I'm not going to promise a delivery date, but I just upgraded my
mythtv system to 0.24, and mythboxee 0.24 support is now in the works.

They change some of the python code and bindings, so I have to map out
the changes and then test and qa and etc ...

Bad news, the 0.24 python bindings use the "with" statement which is
only available in python 2.5+, I am looking to see what I can do to
backport it to 2.4 or what i can do to switch it out, it is used in
multiple locations, so its not an easy switch.

Well I got the with statements replaced out with try, except
statements for anyone who knows python, but now I've run across
another issue, all the exception classes in the 0.24 library use the
new class model and in python 2.4 exceptions can only be old class
style, which of course means I have to rewrite even more code.

Don't you just LOVE version upgrades with function and API changes and such? :P
(I'm in the process of migrating a Moodle plugin from Moodle 1.9 to
Moodle 2.0 at work).

I'm still waiting for Boxee Box support of course, but I'm guessing
you'll have to wait on working on that until they get the Netflix
support update out. :)

So I've been spending a few hours a night the last couple of days
trying to get the new mythtv python bindings to work with the pure
python mysql library for use inside of Boxee and its going only so-so
at this point.

Basically I am giving up on 0.24 bindings at this time and I will be
moving to try 0.25 bindings, which hopefully I can make backwards
compatible with 0.24, since mainly I am looking at better support for
a mysql library other than mysqldb which is a binary library that
can't be used within Boxee.

So where does this leave us? No 0.24 support yet, but I am working on
it, I've upgraded my system to 0.24 so I am trying to get it to work.

More to follow ...

Thank you for your efforts. I eagerly await a chance to test your
software.

I do have one question, "Does the Boxee Box remote have enough buttons
on the simple side for mythtv?"

I've not been able to run the software yet (the Endless Auto-Discovery
problem) so I have no experience as to which buttons do what.

Which buttons skip forward/back for commercials breaks & which just
skip forward/back in time?

Yes it works quite well on the Boxee Box if you are running 0.23 and
have made some adjustments to your system, the current version can
work. Skipping works best under the SMB file share for recordings vs
the XML stream method, though I have had some success with the XML
streaming method after making some changes to the database.

Unfortunately, no commercial skip support at this time.

If it fails to auto-discover it should prompt you to allow you to
enter the information manually is this not happening?

I've made significant progress on 0.24 support!

While I've been working on it I've realized I have a number of bugs
that need to be fixed.

So with that said, its in the works! I'm fixing things now and I am
having to rewrite some of the code to achieve this.

Just wanted to let you all know.

Hi, great job, I can't wait until 0.24 support is added. I'm just wondering if this will work on a linux install with python 2.6 installed?

Boxee has python 2.4.6 compiled with it.

Yes if boxee runs on your Linux box it should work.

With 0.25 coming out soonish, will the new version you are making be
compatible with that also?

Not like it matters to me..I'll stick with 0.24 just to have the
MythBoxee app working, would have stuck with 0.23.1 if I had known
there were problems.
