Dear members,

Our Trekking / adventure safari season for 2008, has started with a
bang with the seasons first trek to the hauntingly beautiful glacial
tarn of 'Beas Kund,' in the upper Solang valley area of Manali in
Himachal Pradesh, slated to commence on the 20th of May,2008.

Located at the base of lofty Pir Panjal mountain Range of the outer
Himalaya, under the shadow of the breathtakingly beautiful Hanuman
Tibba peak, Beas Kund is usually covered in ice at this time of the
year. Our reconnisance team has just come back from the area and has
given us information that there is still quite a bit of snow
surrounding the lake.

This is the perfect time for a trek to this enchanting little
Himalayan paradise. We have already recieved three confirmed enquiries
for this programme and are all set to embark on the Beas Kund trek on
the given date with these three clients. However, there is still space
for 6-8 people on this trek as the ideal number of participants for us
would be around 10.

So, if you would like to join this programme or want more details
pertaining to the trek itinerary, costs and images, do get in touch
with us quickly as bookings for this programme will close on the 12th
of May 2008. Our phone numbers and E-mail are given at the end of this
post.

Also given below are some of our other trekking / jeep safari
programmes, that begin from mid may 2008 onwards. Do get in touch with
us if any of them sparks your interest and you want to participate in
them or want more details about them.

We look forward to your joining us on one of these incomparable,
exiting...life altering...'journeys of discovery.'

"KI - KI... SO - SO...LAHARGYALO"

(Customary Traditional Ladakhi and Tibetan invocation / slogan, while
crossing the high passes of the Himalaya, meaning...'The Gods are
victorious.')

PROGRAMMES BEGINNING FROM 20th May, 2008, ONWARDS. :-

1) - THE BEAS KUND TREK.

This is a very popular trek in the Manali region and provides possibly
the best introduction to alpine mountainscapes, for the first time
trekker.

The trek gradient in this enchanting trek to 'Beas Kund', which is a
glacial tarn and is the source of the river Beas, is easy - moderate
and takes one along the beautiful upper Solang valley. The route
passes through forests of spruce and silveroak, through alpine meadows
where the omadic Gaddi folk graze their sheep and finally to the foot
of the high summits such as the majestic Hanuman Tibba (5,930 Mts.),
Friendship, Shitidhar and Manali peak.

This trek offers a great degree of contrast during the journey. One
can spend hours during the walk, interacting with the local folks,
exploring Alpine Flowers or walking on the glacial moraine. The trek
also provides Magnificent views of the lofty Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar
range of mountains

Deo-Tibba and of the majestic 'Hampta Pass', this is one of the most

and passes through the quaint Pahari (hill) village of Rumsu before
surmounting the majestic Chandrakhani Pass(3600Mts.) and then
descending to the unique tribal village of Malana.

Malana is considered to be one of the earliest democracies in this
part of the world. The village has its own unique set of deities and
way of life, guided by strict rules and regulations promulgated by its
divine counsil. all this makes it an intresting anachronism in this
day and age of Global homogenisation. Care and respect for local
customs is essential here.

Another intresting aspect of this trek is the passage through
relatively well preserved forests of Himalayan spruce, oak and
chestnut, where sightings of elusive Himalayan wildlife is not that
uncommon.

SEASON: April - November end

NUMBER OF DAYS: 5 days
HIGH PASSES: Chanderkhani Pass (3600m)

Rohtang Pass and is about 6 km from the village of Gulaba. The shores
of this clear water lake are visited regularly by the people of the
area, especially on local relegious occasions and fairs.

In early season, this enchanting mountain lake, which is locally
believed to be sacred on accouunt of being the 'Tapobhumi (hallowed
ground)' of the ancient Indian sage 'Bhrighu', is often partially
clothed in ice. The panoramic view of the lofty snowclad mountains
encircling the Kullu valley from here, is beyond comparison and
remains etched in ones memory for a long time.

here. There are some fantastic views of the CB range of the
