For geographical reasons and notes and long question of 4 marks,
remember the following points :
1. Answer should be appropriate and should avoid repeatition of
information.
2. Write the answer in points.
3. Underline important words.
4. Supporting maps or diagrams :
For reasons and notes, supporting maps or diagrams do not carry marks,
but add value.
For long questions, supporting maps or diagrams are must wherever
available. Use of stencils is very important.
Students find the question ‘Show the following in outline map of
India.’ as one of the most difficult questions. However, we have to
admit the fact that Geography means ‘study of maps’. Although all
other questions do not actually require drawing maps, they are based
on maps. Hence, study of maps is the ultimate solution to this
question. Make sure that the map drawing is neat and clean. Do not
write/rub/rewrite the answers on map. Accurate index is a must.
How to study Geography ?
For each chapter, make 2 types of summary : 1. Textual summary and 2.
Map summary.
1. Textual summary : These are usual notes of important points. Note
places and their significance. Wherever possible, make charts.
2. Map summary : Learn maps by heart. Summarise the chapter on a blank
map. For eaxmple, if you learn chapter ‘Industries’, mark different
industries on a blank map. Thus, for any question on industries, you
can support the answer by examples (textual summary) and also by
stencils (map summary). This ‘Do It Yourself’ method will definitely
help you remember the maps very well.
3. Go through these special notes on regular basis.
