Last month we opened up our data by releasing a suite of free-to-use
APIs: http://developer.myspace.com/Community/blogs/devteam/archive/2009/12/08/opening-the-flood-gates-and-unleashing-the-data.aspx
Now, to celebrate we launched the contest with $50,000 in prize money
plus some awesome promotion on MySpace.
To help you kick start your contest submissions, we’re hosting a free
devJam at the MySpace San Francisco office on January 14, 2010. Turn
those app ideas and MySpace API integrations into something real.
Spend the day coding with your peers and the MySpace developer team.

I'd like to ask a couple of questions about the contest as I'm very
interested in submitting.
Will MySpace publicize any of the Finalists or Submissions or only the
Winners? In our case, we want to stay in 'stealth mode' with our app
unless we are lucky enough to win one of the categories. Otherwise, we
would not want our submission made public. This would be a key factor
for us in deciding whether or not to enter.
Can you clarify this point in the T&Cs:
****************************
4. MATERIALS/RIGHTS IN SUBMISSIONS: The intellectual property rights
to the application or project programming code, if any, will remain
with the Entrant. As a condition of entry, Entrants agree that Sponsor
shall have the right to use, copy, modify and make available the
application or code in connection with the operation, conduct,
administration, and advertising and promotion of the Contest via
communication to the public, including, but not limited to the right
to make screenshots, animations and video clips available to the
public for promotional and publicity purposes. (etc.)
******************************
We understand that MySpace will have the rights to widely use the
application in various communication, however we have concerns about
this phrase: "Sponsor shall have the right to use, copy, modify and
make available the application or code in connection with the
operation" as this sounds like use beyond that of promotion via
animations, video-clips, screenshots etc. As an original IP, we would
not want to make our code available for others use. Any clarification
or example of such use, would be much appreciated. If this question
belongs in another forum, please let me know.
Finally, we are based in London and unable to attend the DevJam
tomorrow, will any of it be streamed or made available online?
Many Thanks

I just want to ask for more clarification on the contest regarding the
phrase "Limit one (1) entry per person/team, per Category".
Let's say I develop one app, and I'm not so sure which Category I
should submit it in --- for example, the app uses the Open Search API
(and therefore may qualify for the "Most Innovative Use of the Open
Search API" category) and OpenSocial 0.9 MediaItems (and therefore may
qualify for the "Most Innovative Use of Photos" categetory), or uses
other MySpace APIs that may qualify the app in the "Most Innovative
MySpace App".
My question is: Can I submit this one app (the same app) in more than
one (1) category?
Also, about trademarks use: Can I use the "MySpace" name (or "Google"
or "Twitter" names) in the app, provided I identify them as corporate
trademarks (e.g., "MySpaceTM" (or "GoogleTM" or "TwitterTM") --- for
example, to label sections of data on the UI?
Thanks!
Oscar

Can you comment on whether the submissions or finalists will be
publicized or only the winners?
