Sync issues, am I misunderstanding what it means?

I have a work phone and a private phone, I have mypod on both, and have purchased a license key.

I mainly use my private phone to listen to podcasts, but occasionally need to use the work phone, I thought that the sync function would sync my feeds, and their status across devices.

This doesn't happen at all, there seems to be nothing that syncs between either device even though both are connect to the same Google Account.

What is the sync function for?

Am I just misunderstanding this setting?

I have a Galaxy SIII latest software update and a HTC Desire S, also with latest software update

Sorry it not that type of sync - this should be available in version 2.
