Hello Peter,
While doing a little research on the internet around the connections between peace and art I came across this: http://www.mypeaceproject.org/?page_id=39. It made me think you might be personally and organizationally interested in a national effort to link peace and art this fall--just in time for the 10th anniversary of Sept 11th and the invasion of Afghanistan Oct 7th.
10 Years And Counting is a platform to lift up ongoing work and to inspire new works. If youknow of art relevant to creating a more peaceful world (or in any way relevant to the issues that surround our wars), please go ahead and list (or invite the artists to list) the works at www.10yearsandcounting.org. If you'd like to be counted as a Partner in 10YAC, which means having your name/link on our Partners page in exchange for endorsing the 10YAC project and helping us reach artists and activists to make ART not WAR this fall, then you'll also be invited to guest blog on the 10YAC blog and to promote your events through our social media outlets. Got more ideas? We'd love to hear them!
I'm pasting below the call we've been sending around. Please let me know if you have additional questions.
For peace, blackberries, and art,

There has perhaps never been a more important time for working people to be heard. Unions are under assault, income inequality is at staggering levels, and unemployment numbers continue to grow. All the while our country continues to send the children of working families abroad to fight in wars we can’t afford. After ten years it’s time to say enough is enough.
This October cultural workers around the country are responding to the 10th anniversary of the war in Afghanistan by lifting up the knowledge and wisdom that comes from their experience. This initiative is called 10 Years and Counting—and we invite you to join us.
What should you do this fall? Make art! Create a show, a spectacle, a happening, a sculpture, a dance, a flash mob, a bakeoff, a roving parade, free yoga classes, a poetry workshop, a choir, etc. If you can dream it we want to see it! Think outside the realms of traditional protest: what would your family like to do on a Saturday afternoon? What would be fun and meaningful for your community?
Once you’ve decided on your action, tell us about it at 10ya...@gmail.com, list your event at www.10yearsandcounting.org, and share your images/ideas/and calls for volunteers on www.facebook.com/10yearsandcounting. Songs and dances and can be uploaded to the 10YAC YouTube channel, poems can be submitted for our blog, and visual art can be submitted for our online gallery. Use the 10YAC platform to show our elected officials and the media what a real grassroots peace movement looks like!
Want to help us spread the word? Join us as Partner and be included in the organizing loop. (Email 10ya...@gmail.com for more information.)
Let's create the world we want to see--starting this fall in our own communities.
