account report

Yesterday at our meeting  we did not mention a final credit and debit book keeping account

of monies raised, from whom, how much, in what form.

Also, along with that, we need an expenditure report to see how and to whom

the money was spent on or sent to.

If MyPeace even intends on moving on-- I agree with Carrie !-all air needs to be cleared

 and all monies accounted for

as customary and proper year end report of business.

We must have  this information to make future decisions

about MyPeace and its future once again.

If we don't get this information we are not a coherent

responsible organization.

I ask for response from any members who concur please.

Make your word known here --if you could not make last meeting

-or if you really care about MyPeace continuing.

The Report could be in a proper two column report

with all details printed out so income and outgo

show a balance . 
This report needs to be e- mailed to each member of the group and OPW Board

in respect to their need to know and participation

as active interest holders in this endeavor.

There may be a number of questions arising from this

report and there need to be--- so we can review a better

spending budget or ideas of how to improve income and outgo.

I am nonplussed everyone -including myself let this report simply

disappear.

Linda, legally speaking, I'm wondering whether the MyPeace volunteers
can do more than request the financial report you seek. I'm with you
that seeing an accounting (which Carrie probably has on the tips of
her fingers) would be nice to see, and probably pretty
straightforward. But as volunteers, we probably haven't the right to
make demands about how the money is spent, though it's possible that
unified advice from the group might sway the outcome. OPW probably is
within its rights to claim any unused funds for whatever it wants, and
Peter has made a forceful argument about that, because of the dire
straits of OPW and their having delayed other fundraisers because of
MyPeace activities. I'm guessing the board would back him on that.

Your passion might be better spent were you actually on the OPW board!
The board, and Peter, are the ones in the driver's seat on this, I
think.

It will be interesting to read the minutes from the meeting yesterday,
as I heard many saying that next year, it would be wise to organize
fewer events - perhaps in tandem with others, perhaps strung out over
a longer period of time. I heard Peter say that his interest is to
pick items from the Visioning list...and I'm not sure whether that
idea might parallel those the committee has about what MyPeace would
look like in 2011. I guess we'll know more as OPW convenes more
meetings with that in mind.

I was disappointed that Carrie declined to offer a perspective on
MyPeace. I hope there's an opportunity to do that, and I'd be happy to
volunteer to talk with her, should that be desirable. I was
disappointed that others from the core committee were not there. I'm
curious about whether there's interest in getting one-on-one info from
those people: Bob, Jenn, Mark, David, Lennie, Jonathan? I'd be willing
to help out there, too.

As you all I am sure are aware, Lennie and I are in Merida in the Yucatan at our Mexico home and have not been able to attend any of your functions.  We do care about MyPeace as it unfolds next year and in coming years and we were very gratified to have been a part of the MyPeace project over the past months.

I would naturally think a  MyPeace accounting report would be in order to facilitate planning for next year.  To me, that would be the main reason to have that report and I also feel personally that any money left over should be available for OPW to use as they see fit, rather than carrying it over for MyPeace until next year.  That is my personal view of course.

I would be happy to share my thoughts on MyPeace, how well it achieved it's objectives, how I see it playing out in the future and also my own desires about how best to use my time in pursuit of peace, and social and economic justice for all, if that would be appropriate at some time.

I have refrained from commenting on the "money" issues concerning MyPeace vs OPW...mostly because I wasn't there when MyPeace was conceived and never really felt any authority to comment as obviously, arrangements were made which didn't include volunteers...

I would like to propose that a different structure be implemented next year.  Much of the work that was done for MyPeace was not done with OPW in mind...at least, that seemed to be my observation and I don't think I was alone in that thinking.  OPW is a great organization...but I see MyPeace as a separate entity in a way, because it was a local experiment and focused on local awareness and transition.  Perhaps next year the structure of MyPeace could include OPW with a percentage of the fundraising effort but it would keep enough of the fundraising monies to provide a baseline for MyPeace.  

For the life of me, I can't see how MyPeace can survive without an operating budget of it's own...

I cannot understand all this Carrie bashing. I think she did a terrific job in all areas of the mypeace project, without her drive many things would have not even been accomplished. So folks, give Carrie a break and celebrate her loyal contributions to this project!!!

I was way way late to that meeting.  You probably dont remember  as I was mostly there and on time at every meeting.  I just sent a email to thank Carrie prior to reading this post for the thorough report (!)

saying it is just perfect and what we needed to move forward!  there is NO need for any apologies (on my part)--my goodness!! 

I did NOT know the reports were there. I was Never told at the meeting.  Much Later, I asked for some accounting.  And we (I) recieved it today  --those not at the meeting

would have been in the dark as I-- as I did not receive the report in the email either.  Just a glich.  NO "blame" was Ever Ever given to Carrie for not providing this

report Ever.  If others were rude about "blaming" then I think "apologies" should be provided.  If I were one of them I would and Carrie knows this of me.

Carlie,I dont know about any "bashing" of Carrie.  I am out of the loop.  Carrie knows of my candor and my admiration of her work and her person.

I want always to say she is my friend. 

All have given Carrie praise and I have given a good number of hugs and chats and praise!
