Hi

The LMV1032 IC mentioned in stage2_amp.sch is proving to be expensive (~ $5 per piece ) in India as the same needs to be imported.

I am planning to replace LMV1032 with a pre-amp stage using one of the following ICs.

OPA 335  costs ~$1.8
OPA2335AID  costs ~ $2

Both of these ICs provide good Vos (5 microvolt) and slew rate of 1.6 V/microsec.

Need some suggestions from the group on my following queries:

1) Is it Ok to do this kind of a work around or am i missing something ? Has someone already tried anything on similar lines ??

2) Any other comments/ ideas/suggestions that you think can be helpful for me.

thanks

Hello,
Depends what application you are intending -- stage2 is for extracellular neural recording, not EMG, and even then the LMV1032 worked poorly. Best front-end for EMG was the MAX4462; for neural recording, Intan chips.

thanks Tim for your quick response.

My application is strictly limited to developing a prosthetic arm and hand using surface EMG signals .

Hence i am looking to derive a lean and mean version of  present myopen hardware .

The idea is to somehow merge this derived version with prosthetic hand similar to the one being developed at http://www.openhandproject.org/ but at a very very reduced cost  (< $250 if possible) .

I would really appreciate any helpful inputs for deriving such a stripped down version of hardware.

thanks

Hi Amol,

Cool, sounds like a good project. I am currently traveling, but can
help you more once I return to the states. In the meantime, do you
want to be added as a contributor to myopen (svn)?
