Hi All,

Welcome to The Malaysian Indian's Bulletin Board (MIBB). If you are receiving this email, then your email ID is listed in our mailing list.

Let's see what we have for you today,

From MIBB's Desk - Need Feedback - Tables and Chairs in Partially Aided Tamil Schools
Dear All - If you are a teacher, have children or know someone working in Partially Aided (Bantuan Modal) Tamil school I would like to get your feedback regarding this topic. Some time ago, the table and chairs assistance by the goverment is limited to Fully Aided (Bantuan Penuh) schools. Whenever a Fully Aided school changes their tables and chairs, the used tables and chairs will be given to Partially Aided school as their good will gesture. This is because tables and chairs were not supported by the goverment.

Question:
1. Is this scenario, Partially aided school depending on Fully Aided school for tables and chairs are still prevalent today?
2. Where do Partially aided school go for their new table and chair, say because of broke or due to students expension?

From my investigation I learn in Selangor, there is a program to help Tamil Schools by the state government over this sort of issues,

Been verbally told NS and Melaka too have this program but by the state education department. It is usually a one off program. The schools will be invited to fill a certain form at end of a certain schooling year, to plan for their next year's intake. Tables and chairs could be replaced due to repairs or due to student expansion.

On the contrary for Penang, I have been told they dont have such program either by education department or state goverment. The long practise of getting it from fully aided school is said to be still on going. If MOE is giving the tables and chairs for NS and Melaka wouldn't it be a standard procedure for other states as well?

If you happen to know about this, could you share with me this information.

We have assisted a school in Penang with the help of Yayasan myNadi some time back. The furniture was very bad.

If there is a program by MOE or State, believe rather good to plug to the system if there is no such programs in certain state, we have to organize something to attend to this. It is just not unacceptable for children to study using broken table and chairs but it is dangerous too. Do email me at svan...@gmail.com

In our Bulletin Board we have been promoting active citizenship to our members, where everyone are encouraged to plan, fund raise and execute projects for the development of our community.

Recently, our members from Kedah have done several interesting projects. SJKT Ladang Katumba is a rural school in Kuala Ketil,Kedah.

a) As ICT knowledge is important not just for its students but also for the surrounding community. They have setup an ICT Lab in the school so that the rural community is not left behind in this field. They aptly named the lab as "Sir CV Raman ICT Lab", recognizing the contribution of a Noble Prize winner in Physics. Hoping the students will be encouraged to reach greater height in ICT and Science. The album below will walk you through the journey the members of this Bulletin Board have gone through to setup the lab. They not only have planned and excuted the project but they also chipped in their money with other kind hearted donors for this purpose.

b) Statistics shows rural community often skip pre-school education i.e kindergarten. There are many reasons for this and one of it is lack of facility. The members of this Bulletin Board have spoken with the management of Ladang Katumba estate, where they have been given a shack in a temple compound to be used for this purpose. The famous poet Bharati had once wished to see temples to become schools. This team has realised it here. As the previous project, they chipped in their money with other kind hearted donors to make this happen. For the syllabus and teacher's salary I learn they are working with CHILD Association, an association specializes in pre-school education and its issues. They named this kindergarten as "Sri Ramalinga Swami Balar Palli". Do see how a ruined shack have been transformed into a beautiful kindergarten by the magical hands of these souls

The above two projects are not just successful projects but also pertinent ones for our community.

c) They are not done yet, they are working to setup another ICT lab which could accommodate 10 computers at SJKT Ladang Dublin Bhg. 5, a rural school in Mahang, Kedah. This lab will be used to expose ICT to the students, teachers and also to the surrounding community. The members from Kedah have chipped in their money to start the project, the construction has started and the building is in 60% progress

They were looking for further funds for the below, to assist them to move to the next phase of the development.

Estimation
a) Lab furniture - RM1,300
b) Workmanship   - RM4,600
c) Grill         - RM1,000
d) Sliding door  - RM  600
Total - RM7,500

Glad to say we had 22 donors came forward to chip in the needed RM7,500. We later been updated this funds would not only would be enough to build the ICT lab but also to renovate a building meant to be used as a pre-school!

The next phase for the ICT Lab and Kindergarten is the installation of electrical wiring, lights and fan which is estimated to be RM2,000. Do inform me at svan...@gmail.com if you would be interested to chip in for the above. For now we are just collecting pledges so we would know when to stop collecting funds.

From MIBB's Desk - Web Hosting Provider - Update
Thank you very much. We have got lots of support. More than 30 people have written trying to help in various way on the web hosting provider. Glad to say we got a Singapore based web hosting company agreed to sponsor the web hosting service for us with unlimited bandwidth. You guys are awesome. We might need to rename our group again due to a good suggestion that given to us, and also due to technical reason (non-availibility of preferred domain name, red tapes to register .my TLD name, technical support etc). Will keep you updated.
-------original-start---------
Dear All -- If you have engaged a web hosting company for your company/organization and if you are satisfied with their package, price and services, could you share the name of the hosting company at <snipped>.
