Distress Email - Single Mother - Nagammah

Mogan came across two predicaments lately. Sharing the first below,

Background of the family:
Family of 8 from Taman Sri Bedong Sungai Petani. Nagammah's husband used to work in oil palm estate on contract basis and she works in company. The smooth and happy life of the family shattered when the father met with an accident and died in 2012. The death of her husband caused the mother in extreme desperation as she needs to look after her children, younger brother and her mother. In view of this condition her elder brother (Selvarajoo) who is single accepted all of them to stay with him. However fate did not spare him as he who runs roadside flower shop faced losses and he had to close his shop. He decided to go to Singapore to work and currently he unable to secure a permanent job and unable to support her sister and the children.

The expenses to manage the family become very difficult for the mother now, as she needs to pay the bank loan of her elder brother’s house. On top of this, she also need to pay the monthly debt for the purchase of house furniture’s (bed, mattress, cabinets). In order to manage the family expenses the mother frequently owed from shop to buy groceries item for her family and pay the shop once she has the money. The electricity bill is said had not been paid for several months as there barely anything left.

Nagammah's younger brother will be sitting for SPM this year and her son will be sitting for UPSR. Though she believes proper education is very crucial for them but due to financial constraint it had become beyond her mean to support. They have tried to seek help from family, friends and political party but had not been luckly to receive assistance. As such the mother fold hands seeking help from well wishers as she has no avenues at the moment to support the family despite trying to keep the family afloat.

Supporting documents and photos,

Mogan has devised the below plan to assist for several months, giving us time to position her for more sustainable long term assistance available currently as listed below.

How you can help the family,
1. To cover the debt of furniture’s purchase  =  RM 2300 (By covering this cost the mother would save the monthly installment of RM 200 to pay her children school expenses)
2. To support groceries for four months  RM 400 X 4 months  =  RM 1600 (Temporary measure  until her brother secure permanent job)
3. To cover SPM tuition for Ghanggatharan – younger brother (BM, BI and Maths)  = RM 35 X 3 X 10 months = RM 1050
4. To cover UPSR tuition for Sothirajan – elder son (BM, BI and Maths)  = RM 35 X 3 X 8 months =   RM 840
5. To cover pending electrical bill : RM 880

Total : RM 6670

Long term help
1. Re-apply with Welfare Department for higher monthly contribution
2. Connect this case to other charitable organization for long term help especially for children school expenses.

If you are keen to help, do contact Mogan at mogansin...@gmail.com for further discussion and stating your pledge. Any small amount you are comfortable to contribute will do, need not stretch yourself.

Distress Email - Education - Shubitra

Sharing The below is the second predicament Mogan came across,

Background:
Shubitra comes from a family of three from Kamunting, Taiping. Her father left the family and remarried 14 years ago. Her mother is the sole breadwinner and working in the hospital as cleaner with a net pay around RM850 (after the deduction of EPF and SOSCO). Recently, Shubitra was offered to do Bachelor of Science (Hons) Logistic and International Shipping at University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). She decided to enrol in this University after failing to get a seat in local government university after applying the below,

UPM - Bachelor Sains Pembangunan Manusia Dengan Teknologi Maklumat
UniMAP - Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perniagaan Antarabangsa
UUM - Sarjana Muda Pengurusan Perniagaan Antarabangsa

Her mother approached relatives and friends seeking financial help to support her daughter’s registration fees but no promising result from them. As the deadline draws closer (15 January 2018) the mother lost hope that her daughter would able to enrol in the university and felt devastated as she is unable to help her daughter. Shubitra on the other hand did well in her studies and extra co-curriculum activities. She completed her SPM with 5A, 2C+ and 2C and obtained a CGPA of 2.08 in STPM. During school days she participated in Malaysian National Chemistry Quiz in 2014 and 2015. She also led several school clubs and organization.

Supporting documents and photos,

Mogan has devised the below plan to assist her.

How you can help the family,
1) To support university entry and course fees for Shubita : RM6,754 until her PTPTN loan is sanctioned, urgent - Deadline 15 January 2018
2) To support for food expenses at the university - Monthly basis until PTPTN loan is sanctioned. RM 300 X 3 months: RM 900
3) To support miscellaneous expenses like clothes, shoe, bed sheet, utensils and other essential item to be used in the university : RM1000

Total : RM 8654

If you are keen to help, do contact Mogan at mogansin...@gmail.com for further discussion and stating your pledge. Any small amount you are comfortable to contribute will do, need not stretch yourself.

Ok that's all from me.

Let's Shine.
