Hi there,

I'm back to MLO after a few years during which I tried several other tools...

I've a basic question for which I couldn't find an answer in the documentation nor in the faq :

I have a workspace named "Process" that just display the default view named "Inbox"
Whenever I switch to this workspace, if I don't already have a top-level folder named "<Inbox>" it is automatically created, but I want my inbox to have a different name, e.g. "Collect".

Can I disable this behaviour or change the name of the default inbox to something of my liking?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers  /jerome

You cannot stop MLO from creating a top level folder named <Inbox> but you don’t have to use it. You are free to create a top level folder named Collect. It’s hard to impossible to modify the included view “Inbox” but nothing stops you from creating another view called “collect” and showing the tasks in your Collect folder.  Sometimes MLO will deposit new tasks into the Inbox. Some of the things that cause that are:

1. Hitting the big red “new task” button while in the <Inbox> folder

2. Using Rapid Task Entry while the Parent… field contains \<Inbox>

3. Emailling new tasks to the “MLO by Email” address defined in the cloud sync setup

There are probably others. But you don’t have to do any of these things. For example, you could type \Collect in the RTE Parent… box

To sum up, you cannot get rid of <Inbox> but you can have both Collect and <Inbox> and use Collect instead of Inbox for everything that matters.

Thanks Dwight, that makes sense. But I think it would also make sense to have an option somewhere to enable or not a global inbox and to choose its name.

The problem with that, I think, is syncing with mobile devices. It would add complexity (for the developer) if each mobile version gets to name it's own inbox, and the sync software would have to translate on the way out and then back in. For example, on Android if I create a task in "My_Inbox" and then sync to a desktop which as Inbox named, "Collect" -- what task is the parent of this task while in the cloud? Maybe it could have a special ID or something, but it might also be confusing to end users.
