While evaluting mlo, I found it seems that reminder can't be set to
time after 7PM or before 8AM. Do I do anything wrong or it is the
default of mlo?

I have checked the help file and searched the forum, but couldn't find
anything related to my question. Would someone provide a pointer?
Thanks so much.

It is definitely not by design :) If it was then there would be too
many people with concerns about this :).

Most likely it is related to your regional settings and/or to the way
you set reminders. Could you please send on my e-mail:
1) Steps you performed, what you expected and what actually get
2) In what format your date and time is shown. Is it mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm
am/pm?
3) Screenshots
4) Other information which you think might be helpful to reproduce the
issue.

This would help me to resolve the issue.

Thanks,
Andrey.

Hi Andrey,

Here is what Pedro might be experiencing:

Steps performed:

1. Check the checkbox Reminder in the Properties Pane
2. Next click Advanced
3. Go to the Time drop-down box, and click the down arrow

What you get:
You get a drop-down list, starting at 8:00am, increasing by increments
of 30 minutes, ending with 7:00pm. However, in my case, if I want to
select anytime outside of 8am - 7pm, I just type that time in the input
box and it works. It's just that times after 7pm and before 8am don't
appear in the drop-down list.

My date and time format is as you stated: mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm am/pm

Same problem for me, drop-down box in Reminder/Advanced goes from 08:00 to
19:00. It looks almost like the drop-down box is missing a scroll bar.
Manual entering of time works fine. My date time/format is dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm
am/pm.

Steve

As I recall, I have always used the manual entry for times that are outside
the drop-down list.

Hm... I see now. But I intentionally did not fill all the time range to
the combobox. Do you really think there should be all 24h ?

Andrey,

I really don't want to scroll the combo-box to set my alarm; so, fewer
choices better.

I think most of us don't want to get up in the middle of the night to hear
the alarm go off (I know I am missing the thrill of it all).

So, I vote to keep it as is unless you can add more w/o us having to scroll.

Take care,

Ken

Hi Andrey,

There shouldn't be all 24 hours, no more than there should be 8:01am,
8:02am, 8:03am, etc.

Clearly there is many more possible reminder times between 8am and 7pm
than on the half-hour. I personally think that a reminder time of
10:20am would be a lot more useful than a 3:00am reminder time :)

I got the impression from Pedro (the originator of this thread) that he
thought that your choices to reminder times was limited to those
offered in the drop-down list!

Perhaps 3 separate input boxes, one for the hour, one for the minute,
and one for am or pm might eliminate the confusion (or Pocket
Informant's implementation of selecting a time). I am not advocating
either of these options as I do not find your implementation confusing
at all.

Same here, I don't use the combo box I enter the time in manually.

What I wouldn't mind seeing is the ability to set some predefined alarm
settings on date/timed tasks. A bit like Outlook appointments where you can
set an alarm 15 mins before, 1 day before, 1 week before etc. That would be
nice, as well as having the ability to set a defined time.

Steve

Hi Andrey,

Thanks very much for your reply.

The format of my date and time is set to chinses(Taiwan). It is not
like your format.
After I changed the format of my date and time to English(Unite
States), it works fine now.
Thanks for everyone's opinion.

Cheers,

Pedro

Personally, I'd rather select via the drop-down.

Regardless, it's not that important to me to have all 24 hours
available in the drop down. My main issue with it is that I often have
things I have to do at work and things I have to do at home. I live in
the Washington D.C. area, and traffic here is such that there's no way
I'm getting home before 7pm, so ALL of my "personal" tasks have to have
the time entered manually.

I'd like to see the end of the drop-down reminder time extended to at
least 9pm or 10pm. Sure, I'll concede that I'm not setting reminders
for 3am, and there's no reason to include that on the drop-down. But I
think that extending the coverage of the drop-down to 9pm or 10pm would
satisfy users like myself who are active in the evenings and use the
drop-down, yet it wouldn't prevent those who like to enter the time
manually from doing so. Everyone's happy that way.

Take care,

Erik

I'm having a related problem, whenever I try to set a reminder time at
12:xx AM, it doesn't work properly. As soon as the focus leaves the
control, it reverts from AM to PM. Have also tried 00:xx. Same problem
with 1.7.2 or 1.8.0b. Anyone else having problems setting an alarm
between midnight and 1AM?
Thanks,
Fred

Hi Fred,

I have just tried it and you are right, you can not set a reminder for
00:00, on my test it reverts to the current time. I can set a reminder for
00:01 or 00:15, even 23:59 and it appears to work. I don't have a problem
with it reverting to AM/PM as I am using 24 hour time format. But there does
appear to be a problem with trying to set a reminder for 00:00.

Steve

Yes this is a problem. It is related to the situation when MLO shoud
detect if time was set or not. I will try to fix it.
