Hi everyone!

This is Marina from the MLO team with good news about V2 for Android.

Last months were very hot on the MLO beta forum. The users received the new Android version for testing and were trying hard to reveal even the tiniest bugs.

Now, thanks to the great efforts of the beta testers and the MLO team, we are ready to announce a release date. Meet MyLifeOrganized for Android V2 in mid-November! You can find out more on our blog.

Sincerely yours,

The MyLifeOrganized Team

Great news Marina! I know the MLO team and the beta testers have been been putting in a lot of effort. I'm sure it will be a big success.

Will "V2 for Android" be designed for both android phones and android tablets? I think so. In the IOS world, they call this "Universal".

Hi, John. I'm a member of the Android beta test team so I'm not speaking for the developers.  But I believe that the recently released MLO v2 for IOS comes in an iPhone version and a separate iPad version.  I think that it might see something similar for Android.

Will this be a free upgrade if one owns the latest version (V 1.6) of the MLO app for Android?

Hi, Adam!

This is Marina from the MLO team. The upgrade is not free, but there will be a discount for the users of the version 1. We'll tell more about it closer to the release date.
Thanks!

My android trial version has just expired and I decided to wait for a new version - do not see any reason to buy it now if I can wait for a week or two and buy a newer one.

As a daily user of MLO and an android fan, I'm excited about this release.

Hopefully soon anyway, otherwise we might be getting dangerously close to late November.

Then again, if it goes out still full of bugs we'd all be complaining about that, so the developers can't really win.

Good luck with the release.

Hi!

UPDATE 18th November: We are performing the last tests with data migration. We want to be absolutely sure that your MyLifeOrganized tasks migrated smoothly to MyLifeOrganized 2. It took a little longer than we expected. But our target is still to release in November.

Also excited, but absolutely, stability always trumps features in any sane environment. (This is not meant to imply that we live in a sane world; quite the opposite.)

Stability has always been one of the great things about MLO as a product.

That's one of the reasons I still use it, I've come to trust it.

MLO Android V1 was also very reliable as product in terms of bugs, I just had issues in a couple of areas that held me back from using it day to day.

Lack of background cloud sync support.

Lack of custom view support. I need the views, as I manage a lot of projects and tasks, it's the only way to bring sanity to the insane world you mentioned!
This pretty much relegated it to a tool for adding new tasks on the go (which I then forgot to sync), and the occasional search during meetings.

As I understand it, these issues are resolved in the new version which will be reason enough to buy it.

I'll try to remember that the next time we fail to meet our mid month deadline,  it would certainly be useful to have a few extra days :)

Although due to super organisation in MLO that never happens!

This reminds me of the conversion me and my wife have about when winter starts.

Where I live, "Mid November" like every other mid anything, is the middle of the "anything" In this case, mid november would have been the 15th. Mid"ish" november would be a range, I suppose; but when there is in fact a 'middle' then saying "mid" strongly suggests the actual middle.

Steve Gledhill

By your definition Mid November would be midnight of the 15th since there are 30 days in November. If "mid-November would have been the 15th" was the universally agreed meaning then the developers would surely have used the more precise "November 15th". I always understood the imprecise nature of the term used to indicate approximation.
I am, like many here, keen to see the new release on Android and hope that it encourages me to use my app more productively but I'd rather wait a few more days rather than receive a buggy version.

I'm not staff but I'm a beta tester and I've been in your shoes with MLO. (I have the rants on here to prove it..)

I know what happens when speculation runs rampant so I'm gonna toe the line carefully here to say that some very active beta testers have spotted a last-minute issue in the conversion of data from MLO v1 to v2.  No one wants a release that's gonna goof existing data on already impatient users so there's a flurry of activity fixing it.  It's only affected two users so far as I know (my own conversion went perfectly) but that's enough to trigger a delay.

For those that need some assurances that it's not vapor I'll say RC releases have been fast and furious in recent weeks and esp. in recent days.   It sucks that it's taken this long I know, but I do see that a release is imminent.  As much as you've been exceedingly patient already if you have just a little more I know you'll get to the reward.

Sorry I can't say more (probably said too much already.)

Hi All,

We have some suggestions of a release:

(1) The website is now advertising the release of Android Version 2.

(2) A comment in the play store for MLO V1 suggests that version 2 has been released.

      "Finally version 2 is available."

(3) Support messages are appearing in this forum that are querying issues with version 2.

I'm on the Canadian Play Store and I'm not seeing any sign of version 2 yet, but maybe it will take some time for the application to roll out to all markets.

An official update might be useful.

It's Marina from the MLO Team. We have started rolling out MLO 2 gradually, adding more devices day by day. So yes, some users already installed the new version. You will also receive update notification for your device soon!

Sincerely yours,
Marina

The Android version on Google play is listed as 1.6.14, and that's the version that gets installed, so it's not just an incorrect version description on the Google play page. I'm in the United Kingdom. Has something gone wrong with the v2 rollout for my region?

Andy

Why the gradual roll-out?  Why not just release it if its past beta?  Or are the recipients of the gradual roll-out part of an expanded public beta?  I don't get the logic behind this: it is either a release version or its a beta version.... the gradual roll-out suggests a lack of confidence and that it is still in need of testing.

This is normal practice for updates such as this. Microsoft did the same for Windows 10 albeit on a larger scale but the principle is the same. Otherwise the load on the servers and backend would cause problems.
Of course,MLo will have the opportunity to abort in case of issues.

The Google playstore has a feature called staged roll outs that allows the developers to make the newer version available to a percentage of users.

Actually it is very common for developers to do this even for smaller changes and bug fixes.

Even after significant beta testing it is impossible to be 100% sure on all devices and configurations that everything will run as planned.

This is especially true for apps with millions of users. It is much safer to release to several thousand users, confirm everything is working well and then increase the percentages. This can prevent developers getting swamped with support requests and upset customers.

Caution on big release is generally not a bad thing. MLO is at the 10,000 user range, but the MLO team is small so they are probably just taking care to make sure they are not overloaded with issues.

The big down side of this approach is that if customers are waiting on a long anticipated release they start to get upset when they see others are already upgrading and they are not.

Let's hope the roll out period is short as we have been waiting a long time for this release.

Do you consider reviewing your pricing policy? 24 backs is a bit pricy for android app. Maybe some discounts for black Friday to celebrate a new release? ;)

PS awesome app.

It is just the normal practice for most applications. But typically, users do not notice it.

Seems normal to me too... I remember having to wait until T-Mobile got the Lollipop upgrade for the Galaxy SIII, even though AT&T and Verizon customers already had it.

I am so excited to get my update notification and I must say, the screenshots and the feature list is making it so hard to wait This upgrade is a very big deal for me and I hope that it will maximize my organization and productivity levels. Also, great job to all those who were involved in making and testing of the android V2. I see it all the time where, app developers only focus on iPhones/iPads and forget about their Android customers. I am so happy that you guys decided to share some love our way. Please understand that we are all super excited because the app looks so amazing  so please bear with our inpatient selves lol.
