That's exactly the way I did it
The issue was actually GMX itself won't forward any email through to Gmail
So far I've been trying test emails and nothings worked
I have not even tried anything via MLO yet

I tried signing up for GMX
and having it forward emails to gmail ... (because what good is a reminder
if you have to log in to some obscure email server to read it lol)
and it doesn't forward (went through ALL the instructions to do so, but ...
    )
    sigh
any other thoughts out there folks?

    Hi, P.T.

I don't use reminders so what I have to say may not be complete or even
correct but I think I can see where your problem is coming from.

There are two email accounts involved in any email message, the Sender
(FROM) and the Recipient (TO). Email notification of reminders are sent FROM
{your copy of MLO} TO {you}. All that stuff in the settings page about email
account is for the FROM. You might open a GMX account in your name but it
would probably be more accurate if you opened a GMX account called "PT
    Travis' desktop MLO".

Setting up a forwarding instruction for "PT Travis' desktop MLO" should not
have much effect because there is probably nobody sending mail to your copy
    of MLO.

The Recipient side of this is set up when you set up a reminder. Under Alert
Actions, you check the box "send email to" and then fill in the address
where you want the email to be sent. I assume that you would put your gmail
    address there.

Then, when the reminder is triggered, the email will be sent FROM your MLO's
email account TO the gmail account.

    +1

I put things in my MLO outline that I wouldn't want Amazon (the sync server provider) to have access to, so I have to stick with WiFi sync.

Its almost November and you really cant use the ipad to process tasks.
Changing the due date doesnt resort it into its proper hierarchy in the
task structure like the desktop does. It stays in the top of the list with
the due date changed. I must have the settings wrong because this is too
    fundamental to overlook. Please help?

    Hi Dwight,

Sorry for the long delay in responding. I thought I would autmatically get
updates to the post but that turned out not to be the case.

I have not tried it yet but I think your idea will work. I will test it
soon and come back if I need more help.

    Thanks,
    Jim

As I am starting using Projects more (love the ability to see % complete
with the calculated Effort parameter...its great), and I do have projects
that are not sequential, I notice that actions under a Folder/Project that
has a status of of Not Started or Suspended are showing up under my default
Active Actions view. Changing the view to only show Next Actions doesn't
help, as Next actions from those Not Started or Suspended Projects still
    show up.

In my mind, a Project I've classified as Suspended or Not Started should
not have next actions show as active. Is there a way to manipulate this?
I tried some Advanced queries but could not seem to get what I want.
There is no toggle in Settings I found.

Rapid task entry doesn't allow you to paste directly into a specific place
in the outline. You would have to select the task again in the RTE and then
paste the text. I would like to paste directly into the outline.

How about setting GMail to suck up via POP3 your GMX account?

Hi Michael. If you were to ask Gmail to use POP3 to retrieve the contents of the GMX account, GMail would be looking at the GMX inbox, which should be empty. Recent reminder notifications would be in the outbox or sent folders. You could use IMAP to retrieve these folders, or just provide a recipient (such as your g-mail account) in MLO's reminder setup box.
