Hello

If I hit F7 in any Tab (i.e. Workarea) it seems that it opens all Folders in ALL Tabs, yes?

I find it extremely useful to fully open all Folders just to fully see what is going on.

However, it's rather 'dangerous' to hit F7 because, if you have lots of folders with lots of tasks in them, it becomes a nightmare to recover the view you had before with only certain folders open.

A) Is there any way to allow different Tabs to have different folders open?

OR

B) Is there any way go back to the which-open which-closed view?
i.e. It would be nice to have a third state other than 1. "all folders open" (caused by F7) or 2. "all folders closed" (caused by F6)

Cheers

J

I personally changed some hotkeys (ctrl+1 or 2 or 3 or 4) thake make display n levels more than the selected task. I usually first hit F6 to close them all, then ctr+A to select everything, then ctrl+2 to show 2 levels.
You can also have a hotkey to collapse all tree but the one selected. All this is under the title "view" in the hotkey manager

Hi,

it looks like a bug. F6 (collapse all) works only for current tab.

1. Yes, I like what you've done with Control+1 or 2/3/4. I have now set up the same.

2. The Hotkeys manager says:
F6 = "Collapse the entire outline"
F7 = "Expand the entire outline"
...which sounds to me exactly what it is doing. So I'm not sure that I'd call it a bug.

3. But I'm a bit confused.
e.g. If I hit F6 in one Workarea/Tab, will it close all hierarchy levels in ALL tabs?
What's going on and how can I change these relationships?

Do I need to Save View or something?

Hi John
Regarding the 3rd item. What's not working as expected for you?

When I collapse a tree in a view or inside a workspace, I don't expect the tree to collapse inside other views and workspaces.

Hi Andrew

I don't know about Views but from what I can see, when one collapses a tree inside a workspace, ALL workspaces seem to be affected.
I wasn't really expecting that.

I quite like working my way through things collapsing or expanding the hierarchy as I go, partly so that I can see how far my work has got to. But if I go to a different workarea (i.e. tab) and hit F6 or F7 then it's something of a disaster as ALL the hierarchy in all Workareas are affected.

PS Fwiw, I have recently discovered "Collapse/Expand all subtasks of the current task" [ Control + ' ] which allows easier control of the above way of working.   :^)
