I want to see all children below and all parents above the keyword located during a filter/search:

1. Desire to find in outline a specific keyword and then see its children (sub-elements under keyword)

2. Use filter function to search for keyword.

3. Keyword or keywords are displayed but the children of the keyword or keywords are not displayed and there is no way to go to the area in the outline where the keyword is located.

Example, screenshots attached:

1. want to find list of halyards from sailboat inventory.

2. Search for "halyard"

3. List of elements showing halyard are shown but there is no way (that I know of) to see the sub elements under halyard so I can see the list of halyard lengths/sizes.

Hello Breezin,

In the filter editor, in the 'General' group, have you tried clicking on the "Config" button next to "Show Hierarchy"? That button gives you options for showing the children of an item matching your filter, then setting a completely different filter on those children (or no filter at all, so you see them all).

Is that what you're looking for?

One other thing: in point 3, regarding " there is no way to go to the area in the outline where the keyword is located" - If your first workspace tab is locked as an unfiltered outline, then double-clicking on any item which doesn't have children on another tab will jump to that item in it's position in the outline on the first tab, so you can see where it sits in the outline and what all its children are. That might be useful to you.

All the best,
Stéphane
