How do you change "Use time"-checkbox default

Whenever I check the "Due"-checkbox, it automatically checks the "Use time"-checkbox as well. Normally, this is not my intention, so how do I change the default behavior here?

I have searched the manual, as well as the preferences, but have not found the answer to my question. Any help is greatly appreciated.
