Why do tasks in projects I haven't marked as started show up in Active Actions? It seems like they shouldn't show up there if I haven't started the project yet.

Yes, this never made sense to be either. If the project is active, the tasks shouldn't be active. I would like to see this behavior changed in version 6.

That’s because the Active Actions filter shows task that are available based on when the start date is today, before today or blank by default. To exclude Not Started projects, you’d need to indicate that by adding the rule in the Advanced filtering setting.

MLO philosophy seems to be to make most of the parameters independent of each other, so you can set up a lot of odd things like active tasks in paused or stopped projects. Some people want to do a preparatory task for a project, before the project has actually started, so it suits them. If that doesn't suit your workflow, you just need to customise the filters and views to suit what does.

Thanks for this reply. I’ll adjust my filter. It’s nice to know things are so customizable in this app! Now for a Mac version!

Again: big plus one for the Mac version! Off-topic I know, but any action towards a MacOS MLO is worth doing imho.

I am fairly new to MLO and can't quite figure out to write the filter to achieve this. Can someone post a filter design that will do this for me. Thanks in advance!

Ahha! a little playing around was all that was required. What I did was:
"ProjectStatus = In Progress" OR
"IsProject = False"

Seems to work ok!

Hello 344cl..,

MLO's advanced filters is about the most powerful, flexible, useful feature it has. Glad you've got to grips with it. So, from your filter settings, you were looking to see anything which isn't a project (ie all tasks), along with anything which is an in-progress project - Is that right?

Yep that's right. I did that for the "Active tasks" view.

Oops... not quite.... I changed it to .....
(ProjectStatus=In Progress) OR
((not(IsProject)) AND (ParentName is Home))

"Home" is my root path for personal stuff...

Found this works better for me
