Hi All:
I share how I currently use MLO, in hopes that this may be helpful
to some of you all.
I use RightNote (RN) with MLO on Windows to store more extensive
notes that aren't easily accommodated by MLO task notes. I like RN
because it stores notes in a multi-level hierarchy. I like that in
RN (like in MLO), every note can be referenced by a unique URL
that works from the Windows Run command. I wish these URLs were
hyperlinked in MLO and RN so clicking on the URL would take one to
the other app. Because RN and MLO URLs include file names, I name
these files without spaces or other 'odd' characters.
My RN hierarchy closely matches my MLO hierarchy. I use RN for
just-in-time writing; while working on a task, I can quickly start
to write task-related notes and read what I wrote previously. I
use RN as an MLO journal, freely creating lower-level notes as
desired. Unfortunately, the way I use RN and MLO requires that I
create both a task/folder and a note and add URLs to each.
I currently use the freeware version of RN and may buy the
standard or professional versions for the additional features.
I see that RightNote follows on from KeyNote and TreePad.
A possible alternative is Joplin, which uses a multi-level
hierarchy and GUIDs. However, I'm unsure if Joplin supports URLs
similar to RN and MLO.
If you have questions, feel free to ask.
cheers,
..jason
