Hi, is any Windows firewall expert here have any idea how to resolve the issue of WiFi sync not working when a new iphone is activated. It stopped working on desktop version 5, and I already upgraded to full version 6, and already paid for cloud. The cloud is not working for me because too many tasks, so I am desperately hoping someone will have an idea for how to restore WiFi. I understand that its possible to set up a new MLO file and get the Cloud to work, but its so much more clumsy than WiFi, which is immediate. Please help if you have ideas. Thank You!!

Tried with all "windows defender" firewalls and antivirus turned off, and turned on. There might be some setting I am not aware of

on the Windows 10 machine:

   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.64
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254

on iOS:
IP Address         192.168.1.81
Subnet Mask      255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.254

Just really wish we could just pay a monthly fee for WiFi and be done with it. It's offensive to get "dark mode" or some feature showing how many tasks you have for some date in iOS, when synching is so utterly broken. I know many people will say "it works just fine for me, for many many years". Well, I was one of you just a few weeks ago (although setting it up was difficult). But that's all over now.

Hi

An idea. Have you installed this component?

another idea.
Are you using some virtual networks, VPNs etc? Try to disable them, restart the wifi-router.
(have you had an ip address conflict before?)

What do you mean by:

WiFi sync not working when a new iphone is activated
?

Do you mean that you have succesfully paired ios and windows MLO?

- Hi Andrei, thanks for your reply.

I had WiFi sync working perfectly well. Then I got a new phone, and it automatically loaded all of its settings from Apple Cloud, including the MLO installation and its profiles. Unfortunately this new setup / iPhone no longer wanted to connect. The only thing that changed was the mobile device IP address (and MAC), because the previous iPhone was still connected to the network.

I thought that the issue is the fact that the WiFi network is running off of an access point which is just a wireless router configured like an access pointer, plugged into main router with ethernet. So I connected everything into the same main router and same wifi network, it did not work. At this point, as you can see, the IPs and subnet indicate its the same network (I guess?). Anyway, I tried every combination, followed by ipconfig /release and /renew after each change and nothing seems to work.

I do have some VPN virtual adapters installed, but they are not being used at all, as far as I can tell. I am not connecting to the VPN for example.

In regard to WiFi module installation, I am using MLO 6 (and MLO 5 until yesterday) in portable mode.

I don't mind creating a new MLO file and new profile on iPhone to start over, and to reconnect the local network as needed, and to reconfigure the Windows 10 settings, or router settings, or whatever, but I am out of ideas, I tried everything that worked in the past.

Thanks so much for your input !

But actually I don't think i've bounced the router. So I will uninstall VPN virtual NICs, disconnect the WiFi access point, put everything on the same router, bounce it, and renew Windows 10 IPs, and try again. Thanks.

Sadly, nothing has worked. I just don't understand why they have to limit number of tasks on Cloud, and why it's so slow. It doesn't have to cost less then $2 per month, at the expense of not working. Hmmm anyone have any other software recommendations instead of MLO??

Hi,

Have you unpaired the previously paired phone in the mlo desktop? If not, unpair it and try to create a new connection from iphone.

And do a backup of your profiles before a new sync.

Ps
Do you have the wifi dll in your app folder on windows?

Yes sir, its MLOWiFiSync.dll. And yes, I created a new profile on iPhone. Not sure how to unpair on the desktop side though, there doesn't seem to be a stored "profile" for WiFi.

Not me helping out, on this thread. The answers and help were all Andrei's work.

I think the following might be worthwhile info for future reference or even the MLO documentation, simply because this specific info is part of documentation for Google products on iOS, meaning enough people have this issue with iOS apps which access local network. Specifically:

iOS settings  |  MyLifeOrg [3]  |  Local Network  =  ON

This allows app to access other devices on local network. The tricky part is that this setting only needs to be on when pairing the app, after which point it seem like this setting can be turned off and the Wi-Fi sync will continue to work fine. So when one upgrades the device, maybe a year or two later, the iOS upgrade process, which has been made completely automatic, will copy the settings. But because the app itself needs to be installed manually, it has to be re-paired and re-synced, hence the issue. (this was basically blurted out by my partially disconnected Google Nest Mini device, being shockingly and unexpectedly helpful). Anyway, thanks again.
