Hello I have purchased MLO for the desktop and android version.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S3.  I cannot edit a task AND save the edits in the android app, there is no save popup and when I hit my back button it just goes to a screen to choose a "profile".

This has been going on for months and it makes the app unusable on my S3.  I have tried uninstalling, cleaning cache, etc.. Nothing.  Is this a known problem or will it be fixed?  Thanks

Hello, Dave,

This is a strange report. I edit and save tasks on my Android (Samsung Galaxy Note 2, very similar to your phone) constantly without anything like the problem you are reporting. The only way that I know to get to the select-a-profile screen from a running copy of MLO is to go to MLO Home (the screen showing 12 MLO icons) and then tap the title bar.

Here’s a  step-by-step. Please follow these steps on your phone and tell us where your results diverge from mine

1. From home screen select Outline. Result: Outline view is displayed.

2. Scroll down to find a less important task and tap it. Result: Task Info screen displayed.

3. Tap the Edit button at the bottom center of the screen. Result: Edit Task screen appears.

4. Make some minor changes to the task title’s punctuation and/or capitalization. Result: edit Task screen with revised task title, with keyboard displayed.

5. hit hardware ESCAPE button once. Result: keyboard is cleared from display.

6. hit hardware ESCAPE button a second time. Result: task info screen with revised task title

7. hit hardware ESCAPE button a fourth time. Result: back to Outline view with revised task title.

Thanks Dwight, that isn't the issue I was having unfortunately.  The issue is when trying to edit the task, here are the areas I cannot edit AND save:

The "Timing" Section:  Start Date/Due Date,  Recurrence, Reminder
The "Project" Section

Whenever I click into any of those areas to make an edit, I can choose an option but there is no "ok" button to save it.   When I hit the "menu" key on my Galaxy S3, there is no pop up to save, just nothing happens.  Hitting the "back" key on my S3 takes it into the choose a profile menu, then it automatically crashes the app with the "oops" message.

The general section and note sections work fine and are able to be saved, its just 2 sections that do not work and crash the app.

I appreciate any more advice or if someone can replicate this.  Thanks

Hi Dave,

I don't have a save option either but whenever I make an edit and press the 'back' key all my changes are saved. You have no missing menu, button or anything but you have a faulty install.

I have a HTC One with Android 4.2.2.

So, your error is that the back key crashes MLO. I would try uninstall and install again and if that doesn't work I would open a new thread with a different title (something like "Pressing back button crashes android version").

Hi, Dave. I totally agree with Steve that SAVE is a function of the BACK button, that you have no missing buttons or menus, and that your crashes could very possibly be caused by a bad install.

I'd like to take the discussion a step further, though.

I found the whole idea of hitting back to do a save to be confusing when I started using it. Thousands of hours of MLO/Android use later it still gets me sometimes. Lately, most of my Android apps are showing a "Save" button at the right end of the title bar. I think it would be an improvement to MLO to have such a save button and stop relying on BACK to mean SAVE. What do you think? If there's much support for this idea I'll write it up as an enhancement request.

I agree. It would keep the operation in line with what happens when you edit: you have to hit the 3 dots at the top right and save or discard.

The problem with the 'back' button operation is that you have no 'discard' option.

So, yes, I think this is something that would benefit from enhancement

Yes hopefully this can be fixed.  Its just those sections I cannot make and save an edit that I listed in the original post.  I've done the uninstall, clear cache, etc.. thing multiple times, still dont work.  All they got to do is build a "save" button into those sections.
