MLO Encryption Utility

Hi I'm currently developing a small utility to encrypt MLO files.

Basically when you click on the shortcut for MLO it will ask for you a
password.

Enter the password and MLO will come up as normal.

Once you close MyLifeOrganized it will re-encrypt your MLO file,
locked up tight for next time.

This is something just for me at the moment until MLO supports
internal encryption.

Let me know if anyone else would be interested in this?

Interesting... But this utility will have to reside in RAM, right?

While MLO is open, yes it will reside in RAM, however once MLO is
closed the encryption tool will close also.

Currently I'm only looking at the desktop.

I've done work with the pocket pc before, but this would take a little
longer to create.

Fyi, I use AxCrypt (http://www.axantum.com/AxCrypt/) to excrypt my MLO
file(s). It works great - just double-clicking the AxCrypt file
prompts for password and launches the encrypted MLO file, and re-
encrypts when MLO is closed. Highly recommended!

Thanks for the suggestion! I keep copies of my personal MLOs file on a
work computer (I use SugarSync to automatically sync my files between
my home PC, laptop and work PC - highly recommended) and therefore,
have been a bit uneasy about the prospect of someone else snooping
into my data. I've just installed AxCrypt following your suggestion
and it indeed works great! A password prompt when opening a file and
then automatic encryption when file is saved/closed. Exactly what I've
been looking for.

Now I'm storing all my data in MLO I needed something to keep it
secure on my work PC.

Hi Broto,

I came across this thread after searching for 'encryption' in the forum.

Axcrypt is a good idea that can encrypt your main ML file, but what about the backup files that MLO makes (e.g. when you save the files or at intervals)? I believe MLO would not automatically encrypt the files nor would Axcrypt 'extend' itself to encrypt the backup files. Do you have a good solution?
