Hi, Alexandra.
If this were mine I would create contexts for “calls day” and “calls night”. I would also create a context “calls” which would *include* calls day as well as calls night. That way I could look at active tasks in the context “calls” and see daytime calls if it’s daytime and see nighttime calls if its night. I would probably need a similar arrangement for Home, but it might not be day and night so much as weeknight and weekend. I would hope that you would not need to break “office” down; if you actually need an “office night” or “office weekend” you have bigger troubles. Just kidding. Sorry.
Anyhow, the disadvantage of this is maintenance of schedules. If the hours considered “day” versus “night” should change, your scheme would allow that change to be made with edits to just “day” and “night” where my scheme would require the change to be made to almost every context. But I would still think it’s worth it.

I’m not sure what would cause what you are seeing. I don’t think that there is any global “include closed” on Windows. To-do lists are usually based on action filter = “active”. If you had an action filter = “all” then your tasks with closed contexts would still be inactive but would be displayed because “all” includes inactive tasks. Also, please make sure that the tasks involved do not have some other open context in addition to the closed day/night contexts. I will show you some screenshots of how it works for me, I hope that you can see them.

First, an All Tasks view (Action=All; include closed) shows some daycalls, some nightcalls, and some without context.

Manage context window (f8) shows that “calls” includes daycalls and nightcalls

CALLS view filters on context “calls” (which has no tasks but includes daycalls, closed with 5 tasks, and nightcalls, open with 5 tasks. “include closed” is off and action filter is “active” Only the five tasks with “nightcalls” . context are shown. Note that the task count for nightcalls decreased from 9 down to 5 because I changed from “all” to “active” – there is one completed nightcalls task and three nightcall parents with uncompleted children, all considered inactive and therefore excluded from the “calls” view.

Finally a look at task properties for a daycalls task. Although the task is in green showing that it’s available for execution, the task properties panel shows “Action: Inactive. All assigned contexts are closed: daycalls”. If your tasks with closed contexts are showing active status here, there is something wrong with how you tried to assign them to closed contexts. If it shows inactive status here and yet they appear on your view, the view is incorrectly accepting inactive tasks.
I hope this helps.

In addition to the main forum on Google Groups there are additional forums on Google Groups for users of MLO/Android and MLO/iPhone&iPad. There’s a Russian-language forum at http://www.mylifeorganized.net/forum-ru/ and there’s a beta forum restricted to beta testers. There are also numerous forums devoted to task management tool comparison, various methodologies such as GTD, and other topics that end up with a section or a thread about MLO. You can probably find all of them in Google Search.
