Hmmm…. You may have a bug, since I’ve had no problem removing completed tasks. If you can, can you try adding “Complete=False” to the Advanced Filter, to see whether that removes completed from the Dashboard as well. Obviously, make sure you’ve got the same view in both places. Apologies if this is obvious, but “Hide completed” only applies to the view you check it off on; it’s not global.

Create a custom View in the left-side Views panel.
In the Filter settings of the newly created View item, check the 'add advanced' option under 'advanced' and add a rule through 'setup' for 'complete is false'.
Select the view you just created in the dashboard. Now, the 'complete' item should not be visible.
