Hello Robyn,
Don't worry, help is at hand. I can't write for long, so won't be able to go into detail until I come back to this. However, just to get you started (and assuming that you're trying to work in the desktop / PC version of the software):
It sounds like the first thing you need to do is find out how to edit a view:
- First, if you can't see the left-hand Views / Filter pane, press Alt-F1 to view it.
- Select the view nearest to what you want, or right-click on a view and select "new view".
- Click on "Filter" at the bottom of that pane to switch to viewing the filter.
- Now to set up the filter for your projects, it really depends on how you have your outline structured. If you want to see just one project, then you could set up a Text filter to search for the project name.
- At the top of the filter select Show Actions: All, Show Hierarchy: Yes and, to the right of the "Show Hierarchy" button, click on the button which brings up other options. I have "include child items" checked.
Once you've set up your filter, save it with the button at the bottom of the pane.
I have another view set up to list all my projects grouped by area of life (work, home, personal, community) and by status (in progress, not started, suspended, completed). Later, I could come back and explain how I set that up. Gotta go....
