Hello...
Not sure if i'm being thick, but i cannot for the life of me work out
how to assign a task to a particular person in my team? I would like
to be able to enter tasks for my team members and be able to view them
quickly and easily.
Please let me know if this is possible.
Many thanks,

Eberhard

I'm doing that with my stuff in the following way...

(a) I mark all delegated or waiting-for tasks using a two-letter code that is unique for each person (enclosed in brackets). A further differentiation is then done by using appropriate contexts (follow-up, waiting for, agenda, etc).

(xy) Business Review   (context: waiting for)
     (xy) Projekt 1   (context: follow-up)
     (xy) Topic 1   (context: agenda)
(b) Then I'm having dedicated custom views that filter for each key contact and group according to contexts. For example the following report would result for my colleague (xy), that I quickly populate by pushing a certain hotkey

agenda
     (xy) Topic 1
follow-up
     (xy) Projekt 1
waiting for
     (xy) Business Review

Hello,

I have been trying to figure out the same problem. I have been using
different context for each person so far. Using task name field does
not seem to me like a good way, because in case of re-assigning task
to another person, I need to edit the task name; instead I would like
to right click on certain field and choose different person.

Anyone can share smart way how to do it?

Thank you

I'm still a big fan of using a "My Work" and "Delegated" top level folders.  Then creating a subfolder under Delegated for each person that you are delegating tasks too.

In that way you can use Top Folder name or zoom to filter out all of the delegated tasks.

You can then use zoom to filter in only tasks for each individual person.

Delegating tasks creates two sets of tasks.  The work you are delegating and your own tasks to check the status of the delegated work.  Using separate folders makes that pretty simple...

But what if I have a task with subset of tasks, that are partly mine and partly I want to delegate them?
I would not like to separate this sub-tasks from the parent.

Sounds like you might be best off using flags Milan especially since a
switch of responsibility is easily achieved (via right click) as you
can only have one flag per task. Flags of course can still be grouped
and be a filter criteria.

Is there any limitation in number of flags? This might be good solution. Thank you

No limitation that I'm aware of. The other thing you can do is have
flags linked by colour, for example if you delegate to different
groups of people, each group could have its own colour. To add a flag
of a particular colour go to Tools/Manage Flags and click on the
existing flag colour you want and press Control + D to duplicate, then
rename as required.

I think Contexts might work much better than flags because they can be made hierarchical.

Depends on how you are delegating. Flags are better for a "quick swap"
of delegation which (I think) is what Milan wanted.

Actually I have adopted the Context method for assigning tasks and it works pretty well.
Thank you all for inspiring thoughs.
