Hi everyone!

The MyLifeOrganized team is speeding up the process of Android version beta testing, so we’v added 200+ new members to the beta team!

We’ve chose them from the application forms that huge number of  users sent us. The selection process was quite difficult and time-consuming, but we had to be sure that new beta testers are matching all our criteria.

All the selected users should already get an invitation email from the MLO team. If you didn’t get an email but still feel that you have all the necessary skills to join the beta testing team, please, resend us the application form. Don’t forget to mention in the comments field that you’ve sent us the form before and would like to try one more time.

The MLO team welcomes all new beta testers. Together we will make MyLifeOrganized the best productivity app!

Sincerely yours,

The MyLifeOrganized Team

Hi Audrey,

I applied and did not see an email.  But maybe it looked like I was only interested in the Windows version.  I will check my spam folder, and if need be fill in the forum again since I also use the Android version on a tablet (and some on my phone)

That aside, I was made curious by your statement that you had to "be sure that new beta testers are matching all our criteria".  I am curious what those criteria are, even if only in general terms.  I ask because a) I am always a fan of openess and b) I fear your selection criteria might be heavy on the intense, somewhat geeky (I can be that too), users, who are often happy with limitations as long as they can create a customer work around etc.  and not day to day users who use it as a production tool and need the right features available without fuss and work arounds.

I say this because
a) one criteria is that Beta testers have to help people on this forum, which directly implies they are not simple business users, but have time and interests even next to Beta (user) testing to work on the forum (I have to force myself to make time to come here, but I come mainly for help as a business user of MLO)
b) I have seen that some of the top requested features, which would be of value to a day to day professional-business user have not been implemented (calendar view, formatting tools for notes, etc) (but missing features is not really part of a Beta test)

I know I sound critial, but that is not my intention. I think MLO is great, but over the last 10 years or so I keep seeing its success be hampered by more focus on the details and technologies than on the bigger improvements based on the users voice.  At least that is my view...

Cheers,

Grant

Hi Andrey,

It is very sad to see the features like calendar view are not part of this beta.
Apart from that do you have the list of tests to be sequentially carried out - test cripts?

Regards,

Hi, Ashref, and welcome to the beta. I'm one of the beta moderators; not part of the MLO organization but a tester like you are.

About the calendar view, there have been a lot of features added during the beta testing so far. Since calendar view was discussed so widely, I would assume that it's still in alpha testing by the developers and not yet ready for beta. You have the right, if you think it's appropriate, to create a JIRA issue calling for the release of this feature. To do that, you would start a separate thread in this forum called something like "calendar view is missing". Separate thread because posts like this one, at the end of some thread that's on a different topic (welcoming testers) are usually overlooked. In this thread post a description of the issue as you see it. Leave it for long enough for discussion to develop (up to about a week). Maybe someone will post something that changes your mind. If you still want to create the issue follow the instructions Andrey gave you for creating a JIRA issue. This does not guarantee that the view will be released but it's your best way of getting your concern noticed.

There are no beta test scripts. There may be alpha test scripts but they haven't been shared with beta testers. The best thing you can do is to install the beta and use it for your daily task management. You should also see if any of the new features look useful to you and if so, try to incorporate them into your daily routine.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR RAISING AN ISSUE
-by Dwight, if any conflict with anything coming from MLO staff go with what they said, not me.

1. Post the issue on the MLO-beta group. See if you can get anyone to confirm your observations or support your recommendations.

2. If there's no support, please re-think it. Maybe you misunderstood something, or maybe there's a simpler alternative

3. If you still want to post the issue, follow the instructions at http://www.mylifeorganized.net/support/report-mlo-beta-issue.shtml

I have  submitted my form to be a beta partner. Unsure if you are still looking for some or not, however, I ask you read the form I've submitted so you understand my credentials here. ;-) Thanks!
