How come when an hierarchical view based on a Folder Name (applied to all tasks) is switched to a flat view, the tasks themselves get filtered out and only folders (if any) are shown (which I can hide for a flat view without any issue)? The same issue doesn't crop up when the filtration is based on Top Folder Name. I'm using MLO Windows Pro version 4.4.6.2510.

Not quite sure about the filters you applied to the "All tasks" view, but you might need to enable the option to include child tasks: bring up Filter pane-> General-> Show hierarchy: Yes-> Config->Include child items.
