I the following filter:
-Action Filter: Active
-Advanced: "StartDateTime before Today OR TopLevelParentName contains
'current')

If I create a Project or Task under the "Current Projects" top level
and give it no StartDateTime, it appears in the filter. But if I give
it a StartDateTime of tomorrow, it does not appear.

(BTW, I get similar results by changing StartDateTime to DueDateTime,
but let's deal with one thing at a time <g>)

What am I doing wrong?

The project or task does not appear when a StartDateTime is set to
tomorrow, because you have the Action Filter set to "Active". By
definition, a task that has a StartDateTime of tomorrow is not active.
I suspect you get similar results for DueDateTime because you also
have a StartDateTime of tomorrow for that task, which again, means
that it is no longer an active task.

Your settings should give you:

All "active" tasks with a TopLevelParentName containing "current" and
all "active" tasks with StartDateTimes before Today that do not have a
TopLevelParentName containing "current". It is important to note that
you will only get "active" tasks with your specific criteria because
you are using the Active Action Filter. If this is not what you want,
then you need to more clearly define what you want to see in your ToDo
view. Once you have a clear definition of what you want, this
community will probably be able to help you come up with the right
configuration for your needs.

Thanks Ron! I thought it was something like that ("operator error"
<g>).

Now that I know how the Active filter works with dates, I'll just
schedule things accordingly.
