Hi,

I have decided to publish the current state of the help documentation.
It is unfinished and does not reflect much of functionality from the
last BETA. Many topics outdated due to new UI design. However some
topics might be useful for you. For example:
- Synchronizing with Outlook
- Selecting Tasks in ToDo List
- Views
etc...

Link:
http://www.mylifeorganized.net/products/my-life-organized/help/

Due to active MLO development I do not have enough time to continue
with help now. I have to decide either continue development or stop it
and create good help documentation :)

If anyone can help me to write even a single topic I would very much
appreciate it. If you would like to volunteer just select a topic you
like and write a few paragraphs using last MLO BETA and existing help
as a template. I will review and publish your update. Thank you in
advance.

Andrey.

PS
Important Notice
This is unfinished version of MyLife Organized help documentation.
Author is still working on it. Since the application is in the active
development phase, this version of the help documentation might contain
outdated information and unfinished topics with internal editorial
remarks. However some topics and the document structure itself might be
helpful. Use it only for preliminary review.

Have you thought about creating a wiki for documentation? Then we could
all see what needs to be worked on and add sections and modifications
as needed. It really is useful for this type of collaborative effort.

Focus on development. Let us help you with documentation.

Setting up a wiki is a great idea for the future... if you haven't set
one up already and you are exploring the idea for the first time you
might find the following link helpful
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki_software...

in the meantime do you have a table of contents or list of topics you
would like help on... each of us can respond here as to what topic we
are taking on so there isn't a duplication of effort

Sorry, should have taken a look at the help documentation - outline is
already there.. only thing we might want to do is take responsibility
for pieces so we don't duplicate effort

Yes I have discovered this link, thank you. I've also consulted with
specialists in our Software company on this topic. It would be useful to set
up wiki for MLO documentation later.

It would take some time to select good wiki engine (for now I am hosted on
Windows+IIS machine and maybe change it later). Do you have any
recommendations on good wiki engines for IIS?
Another idea would be to rent some place where wiki ready installed. I do
not know if it will work and will discover this idea.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Yes I think a person who wants to participate should just write here a topic
name to "lock" it before he/she starts working on it.

First of all I think we need these topics documented:
--------------------------------
Open MyLife Files
Import/Export {ALREADY DONE by Tom. Thanks a lot!)
Auto-save

Selecting Tasks in Outliner
Actions with Items in Outline [maybe change name of topic]
Outline
Task properties
Assigning Places to a Task
Importance of Task
Urgency (? Not ready yet)
Hiding tasks in To Do list
Complete subtasks in order
Timing&Effort [All subtopics]
Project
Task Statistics

The ToDo List
What Appears on the To Do List
Understanding of ToDo Ordering (ONLY after new formula implementing)
Filtering the ToDo List
Places

Projects Tracking
Options (all subsections)
---------------------

Some topics have contend which is outdated. I plan to rework them. If you
can help with this it would be good. For example: topic "How it works"

I have updated the outline in the help documentation here:
http://www.mylifeorganized.net/products/my-life-organized/help/

Thank you in advance for your help.

TikiWiki is the best going these days according to our in house
programming staff. We'd have to check on the net to see if there is a
IIS flavor..

Take a look at http://instiki.org/show/HomePage We are using this
in-house on IIS. Works great and is VERY easy.

Updated. Particularly added info to Time&Effort topics.

Let me know if there are any mistakes of if I forgot to mention
something in finished topics.

Thanks,
Andrey.
