Hi, Rex. You are creating a pretty complex situation. You are going to have four devices using two apps each so eight apps, with four local MLO databases, four local Google Calendar databases and one cloud-based Google Calendar database. Every task that travels between the two partners will go through an MLO to Google conversion at the sender and a Google to MLO conversion at the receiver. Also, if you are not using MLO cloud then the synchronization of each partner's phone with each partner's computer will happen via wi-fi synch. The si-fi synch will need reconfiguration every time your IP address changes. The multiple Google/MLO conversions will tend to drop any functionality in MLO that's not available of Google. The whole thing is, as I said, quite complex, with more moving parts than most people can handle.
You have to watch out for the trap that gets most productivity geeks, which is creating a beautiful and elegant system that cost more time in maintenance complexity than it saves you in productivity.
Also, if you are ok with your tasks getting dumbed-down to what Google can handle, then why not just keep your tasks in Google Calendar and forget MLO? I assume that you want to use some of the many excellent features MLO offers that Google doesnt, like intelligent contexts that handle time of day and location. or complex dependencies. Or so many others. But if you want that stuff to work reliably, the central database at the top of your hierarchy of databases should support the features you want. MLO cloud does that. Google Calendar Synch does not.
Wanting to avoid subscriptions even if the price is low sounds like a very principled stance but its one that will probably cost you a whole lot of time. MLO cloud, by contrast once you set it up, takes good care of your transactions, delivers them where and when you want them, and almost never complains. You should consider making an exception to your no-subscriptions rule.
