Selection after Moving in the Outline

When I process my Inbox, I move each task to the appropriate parent task then set the importance, urgency, and any other properties.  These properties are set relative to the parent, so I first decide where to move the task, and I think about the properties second. 

I am having trouble with this, because after using the "move" command or dragging and dropping a task, the next Inbox task is selected.  I then have to navigate through the outline to find the task I just moved, in order to set its properties.

This would work smoothly if I set the task properties first, then moved the task second, but this is not how I think about things when processing my Inbox.

Any suggestions?

You ask good questions...but no easy answers are coming to mind. I was going to suggest a view with auto-update turned off, but it doesn't seem to help, as the task is still removed from the view when I move it.

I'll keep thinking about this and your other question as well; there ought to be a way to do these...

Steve, one workaround is:
1. select the item from the inbox
2. press ctrl-x
3. click on the item which would be the parent of the above task
4. press ctrl-v
This would leave you with the parent task/folder selected and the child just below it.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Cutting & pasting accomplished what I needed.

Yesterday I was looking over the Keyboard Shortcuts in the MLO help files, and I found a shortcut that does exactly what I was asking for.

Alt-Left: Jump back/forward to previously selected task.

After using the "move" command, pressing Alt-Left will jump to the task that was just moved.

Then Alt-Right will return to the next task in the Inbox.
