How to add a task directly to folder (other than inbox)?

Hi. I've lately discovered Rapid Task Entry and I must say it's very useful (I used to add tasks directly in outline view). I'm not always satisfied new tasks go directly to inbox. I know it's GTD principle and it makes perfect sense since inbox is where incoming tasks should go, but sometimes I'd like new task to go directly to other folder... Can this be done? I know there's a "parent" button and it allows you to pick the right folder then. It takes some time and I was hoping to find a quicker way. Maybe some hotkey or something? I'm 90% sure this what I'm asking for can't be done, but maybe (hopefully) someone will proove me wrong..?:)

Not sure if you realise but the selection of parent folder is persistent i.e. it remains the same for future tasks until changed again.

Hi, Robert.
First, the PARENT button brings up a hierarchy browser which is great if you are unsure of the name of the destination folder. If you already know exactly where you want to put it you can just specify it in the parsable text with the "tofld" command. See p.105 of the user guide. For example

Pay electric bill today @checkbook -tofldWork
when parsed will create a task with caption "Pay electric bill today" with a context of @checkbook and store it in the "work" folder.

I don't know much about custom hotkeys but I imagine it would be a small deal to create a hotkey to type -TofldWork and another to type -tofldHome etc

Hi Dwight,

Thank you for this pointer, it was very useful. I didn't realize how powerful the whole 'parsing' mechanism is.. I have digged it in a little bit and learned that I can set reminders, due dates etc. I don't need anything else now, in fact this parsing is way better than the solution I came with. Once more THANKS!

Sorry for digging this out but I found this option working strangely sometimes. If I try to write a bit more complex line it gets weird. Let's assume I want to create a task 'Feed the cat' with specified start, due and reminder dates, place it in specified folder and assign a particular context. 

Feed the cat 11.01.2014-s 15.01.2014-d remind me tomorrow 09:00 -tofldHome @home

I noticed, after parsing it would have messed dates (e.g. 11.07.2014 instead of 11.01.2014) or wouldn't recognize key words and place whole string as a task. Possibly it could place part of that string as a note. 

Why is it behaving so strangely? If I'm doing something wrong, for example I use bad syntax, please let me know how to use this feature correctly. I've read the userguide chapter dedicated this feature and I think I do everything up to it.

Because the "-s" and "-d" must be separated by blanks, and also, as far
as I understand, input parsing can handle only one date. You can either
use it as start date (-s) OR due date (-d) OR both (nothing).

Christoph is correct that the MLO parser as currently implemented can handle
just a single date. However, if you want your start and due dates not to be
the same date you can use lead time to achieve what you want.

Try this:
Feed the cat -s 11.01.2014 -l4d remind me tomorrow 09:00 > -tofldHome @home

I've tested another bunch of comments and got another bunch of errors... For example parsing fails when I use polish letters in the name of the task (though MLO is said to support Polish and elsewhere it does). 

Other thing - why this doesn't work?

It would parse everything before "Monday" as a name of the task (correctly) and then it loses context, start day and desired folder (it ends up in inbox).

What's wrong? Can anyone give me any manual how to use this parsing feature? At this moment instead of speeding things up it makes me double check every commend and correct it... I've been already through office userguide and I believe I do everything as required... Is this another crappy feature? Sorry for bitter words but I'm becoming fed up with all these different features you need to look after...
