what email service are you using for reminders?
I'm asking this as I have tried Yahoo Gmail Hotmail and Comcast none work

I have tried every conceivable port for each service I'm getting pretty desperate
I like this program except for not being able to send reminders

I have just started to use boomerang for Gmail. http://www.boomeranggmail.com/ You can easily schedule emails to re-appear in your inbox at a time / delay of your choosing. You can add notes and also delay the sending of the email. The delayed emails are found in a label called boomerang and you can even see them on their website.
It is quick and easy to use and supports my zero inbox and Getting Things Done methods.

Prior to boomerang I was using Active Inbox: http://www.activeinboxhq.com/index.php This is closely linked with GTD methods and worked really well for me. I stopped using it because I share my inbox with my wife and it didn't work so well for her.

I appreciate your response
but I could just as easy write something on a calendar or type it in my tablet calendar
I wanted to use the feature that MLO boasts - email reminders - where It sends the reminder
but - as of yet - I cannot find an email that works with it:
already tried: Comcast, Hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc.

Please try gmx.com, it works fine with MLO.

tried to use gmx but still not working.  What should the settings be:

I have mail.gmx.com for the SMTP Server
Port: 25
Server requires authentication is unchecked.

GMX works. You should check the 'My server requires authentication' box. Don't forget to enter the full gmx email address in the username field.

I tried signing up for GMX
and having it forward emails to gmail ... (because what good is a reminder if you have to log in to some obscure email server to read it lol)
and it doesn't forward (went through ALL the instructions to do so, but ... )
sigh
any other thoughts out there folks?

Hi, P.T.

I don’t use reminders so what I have to say may not be complete or even correct but I think I can see where your problem is coming from.

There are two email accounts involved in any email message, the Sender (FROM) and the Recipient (TO). Email notification of reminders are sent FROM {your copy of MLO} TO {you}. All that stuff in the settings page about email account is for the FROM. You might open a GMX account in your name but it would probably be more accurate if you opened a GMX account called “PT Travis’ desktop MLO”.

Setting up a forwarding instruction for “PT Travis’ desktop MLO” should not have much effect because there is probably nobody sending mail to your copy of MLO.

The Recipient side of this is set up when you set up a reminder. Under Alert Actions, you check the box “send email to” and then fill in the address where you want the email to be sent. I assume that you would put your gmail address there.

Then, when the reminder is triggered, the email will be sent FROM your MLO’s email account TO the gmail account.
