My Windows laptop IP changed, so I cannot sync over WiFi again. I don't see how am I supposed to update the IP but also make sure the unsync'd data doesn't get lost?

I agree. Unless you set up your computer with a static IP address, it becomes are real pain to have to keep setting up new synchs. In the end, I stopped synching to the dynamic IP address at work and only ever synched to a static IP I set up at home... until my employer added more layers of security to my laptop and broke MLO WiFi synch for ever.

I'm now waiting until I've got time to reduce the size of my MLO list and delete any sensitive information, after which I will set up MLO Cloud sync.

In the days when I could get WiFi synch working, it would have been much better if MLO recognised the file and didn't treat it as a whole new synched device every time the IP address changed.

On a positive note, though, MLO has pretty robust conflict resolution features, so I never lost any information when reconfiguring WiFi synch.

First I found that I still have that IP if I plug in ethernet. Ironically it only worked with a cable and not wifi. So if anyone has trouble with WiFi sync make sure you are using the same interface for exampl built-in WiFi or dongle or cable.
So I plugged in a cable and Sync'd for good luck before messing with things.

Then I logged into my wifi modem and changed the laptop on wifi to fixed instead of DHCP so it won't change. I deleted all pairing and tried another pair.
To my surprise, it could not find the wifi IP to my laptop.
I tried ping from laptop to phone which worked.
I tried installing Termux so I could ping from phone to laptop but no responses.

Turns out all I needed to do was after changing it to fixed IP I had to turn off WiFi and turn back on again.

Finally I can sync over WiFi again. My problem with cloud sync is I am terrible at keeping sensitive business data out of tasks. If they were stored as encrypted I would be fine but they only send through https.
 Thanks
