as per my post here http://groups.google.com/group/myLifeOrganized/browse_thread/thread/c984717d364305ab
this would be very useful. My current workaround is to duplicate the
parent task as the first child task so that it shows in the todo list.

How about this workaround: what if you complete all the child tasks?
This way your parent task will show up on To-Do

Hello Andrey

Yes I could try that as another work around. I am still keen to see an
option to show parent tasks.

Thanks.

Is it still not possible to see the parent task in To Do before all children are completed?

Another way to see the Parent in the to do list is to set it up as one of the columns.  Right click on the View bar where the headers are for the to do list and select Parent in the drop down list.  Also, when a task is selected in the to do list, the parent can be seen in the path shown between the tabs and the toolbar.  One of these methods might be an alternative to what you are trying to do.

Hello Yury and ToesNZ,

You can show all tasks, parents and children, in the to do list, if you want. In the To Do view, just go into the Filter settings - General and change 'Show Actions:' from "Active" to "All".

The Filter settings are in the left hand pane, just under the Views. If you can't see that pane, just make it visible by pressing Alt-F1.

Thank you, Steph, this works even with advanced filters.

My usecase for this is as follows: inside the project there is some big task. And I gradually write subtasks there. I know when I will do this big task I need to look through all these small tasks. But I don't want to see small tasks in to do list - only the parent with "Today" date, for instance.

So, it seems that the first solution is the one I'm looking for. Thanks for another approach anyway!)

Another option is to change the children to "hide in to-do", then the parent shows up. What I do is put (+) in the parent's caption to indicate to myself that there are children.

For tasks whose children accumulate over time, I create a sub parent and mark it as hidden. I do wish there were a "hide children"option.

There is a feature I'd like to have, which could resolve this : an ability to have checkbox lists in the note section.
