Today, I created a context called "Purchase" and set it to be included in all of my purchase location contexts (e.g., @grocery store, @hardware store). I do not apply this context directly, I'm using it as an upper-level in a context hierarchy.
  1. At first, I thought I would be able to see this context in the "Active Actions by Context" view. After this did not work, I tried to create a view of my active actions and apply a context filter. In the context filter menu, there are parenthetical totals next to each context, my "Purchase" context shows no number, and after applying the filter, it filtered out none of my tasks. All of my tasks show, including those not assigned to a purchase location context.
  2. I tried, then, to create an advanced filter: Context contains "Purchase" It filtered nothing out.
  3. I then tried to created an advanced filter using the "OR" combination for several of my purchase location contexts. It filters out ALL of my tasks.
  4. I was confused, so I changed the rule to the "AND" combination. Again, it filters out ALL of my tasks.

I don't know what is going on. :(

Thanks for your help!

Hi, Amber/Alice (?)

<corrected>`
#1 should have worked. Lets go through it in small steps

1. Hit f8 to bring up the context window. In the left pane select the purchase context.  In the right pane be certain that all of your purchase-related contexts are checked and that only they are checked.

2. Close the context menu and go to the Active Actions by Context view. If there is any chance that you have modified the view, hit the Reset View button at the bottom of the filter panel.

3. Open the Context section of the filter panel on the left

4. Highlight your purchase context

5. Scroll up and down to make sure no other contexts are highlighted.

6. At the top of the context section ensure that the operation is "and"

7. Just to be sure, turn on the check box for Include closed.

8. Hit f6 (compress all) - you should see a list of all non-empty purchase-related contexts.

9. Hit f7 (expand all) to see a list of all purchase-related tasks grouped by context
