Beta bug: "Add subrule" clears the current rule

I think this might have been in previous version too; not sure.

I have a view with 2 rules.  The first one is Flag <> (none).  I want to add a subrule, so that I say, Flag <> none OR ToplevelParent contains Inbox.  I click on "Add subrule", and I have to reenter Flag <> none because it is changed to "Empty".

If this is the intended behavior, it's not very intuitive.  I would like it to keep Flag <> none, and put me in a *new* empty rule.

I know what you mean but I think that following the addition of a
subrule the parent rule, rather than being empty, just doesn't display
the detail of the rule. So it remains active - you don't have to
reenter. Which is still far from helpful as you're left guessing what
the parent rule is if you revisit your advanced filter setup.

Yes it is intended behavior. When you create subrule the current
record actually converted to brackets "()" and the formula of the item
you converted is ignored.
So if you want to keep created rules and move them to brackets just do
the following
1) create new empty rule
2) move your current rules as subrule of the created rule

Thanks for the response Andrey but I don't really understand.
What is the purpose of this intended behaviour?

By the way, when we move out of Beta on 3.5.0 and you update the
User's Guide documentation would it be possible to put a bit more
detail into the section on Advanced Filtering? It's very thin at the
moment. I'm sure more people would use this functionality if they
understood the options a bit better - not everybody is into Boolean
operators and queries ;-)

- task has incomplete subtasks

- those incomplete subtasks are available

- those available incomplete subtasks contain the word "Full Name:" in the note

Are you trying to filter, or format? 

If you are using advanced filtering, are you trying to show the parent of such subtasks, or the subtasks?

I'm trying to format, not filter.

To manage contact-related tasks, I usually drag a contact from outlook, and I'd like this contact to be bold if something in it's subtree is to do.

More generally speaking, I think I don't understand the use of sub-rules vs rules, as I don't see any difference.
