Clean Rivers with Adventures with Purpose
On January 19 thru 25th Adventures with Purpose and
other Dive Teams from across the USA will be in Nashville, Tennessee to search
for a missing local Donelson man and assist in cleaning up our local waterways which
include the Cumberland River. The Neighborhoods/areas
of Nashville that they will be primarily working in are Inglewood, East
Nashville, Madison, Donelson and Hermitage.
The days of interest will be January 21st and 22nd
when around 17 vehicles will be pulled from the Cumberland River near McGavock
Pike where the old ferry use to crossover to Donelson. Anyone wanting to watch may do so from the
Donelson side at the Port of Nashville (McGavock and Pennington Bend near
Gaylord Opryland). Masks and social
distancing are required.
On Saturday January 23rd from 10-2pm
we will have a “Drive in” which is basically a reverse parade. It
is free and you will be able to see what the divers have removed from our local
waterways to promote clean drinking water and a healthier river. You will remain in your car and drive thru the
display. Keep in mind each vehicle
removed takes contaminants like oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, brake fluid,
gas, and rusting metal out of our drinking water. Please load up your family in your vehicle
and “drive in” to “Clean Rivers with Adventures with Purpose”. We hope you stop by.
Location is Gaylord Opryland Pavilion at the intersection of
McGavock Pike and Opry Mills Drive. Please
watch for the signs and for the green metal pavilion
