Beginning today, JAST is raising money to replace Japanese cherry blossom trees that have been damaged or have died in Nashville parks and neighborhoods. The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival Tree Planting Project planted 1,000 cherry blossom trees from 2009 through 2018 as symbols of friendship between the people of Japan and Tennessee. Sadly, many of the trees have been damaged by accidents and tornadoes or have been lost to disease. You can help us bring more cherry blossoms back to Nashville parks and neighborhoods and ensure the spirit of the original tree planting project lives on. When you donate online to the Nashville Blossom Festival Tree Replanting Project, you will also help us qualify for an A Community Thrives grant. A Community Thrives supports community improvement ideas offering grants up to $100,000. In Japan, cherry blossom trees represent springtime, and the 1,000 trees planted by the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival Tree Planting Project have become a symbol of spring in Nashville parks and neighborhoods, too.
