These songs have some major urban swagger and a raw edge reflecting Sabi's love for alternative rock and urban music...and these club bangers are perfect for pumping up your next gym playlist. Sabi stepped out of the studio to share some of her inspiring style and hot music tips for working out.
However, in this "new search for happiness," factors come into play that confront us in our daily lives. Why not start with Wabi-Sabi at the source, in our home? Because Wabi-Sabi style is also a way of decorating. Did you know? Here are the keys to achieving Wabi-Sabi style in your home.
Now that you know what this trend is all about, we are going to help you bring Wabi-Sabi style to the decoration of your home or project. Because if you know how to use it, this style can adapt perfectly to any and every space.
Simplicity does not mean less elegant. Wabi-Sabi style is based on cultivating sobriety and modesty, opting for a decoration based on very few but well-chosen pieces, and reducing only to what is essential, without frills or artifice. It is as if what is not there (or is not shown) really carries more weight than what is seen. In this sense, the author's pieces, antiques or contemporary art are of great importance, valuing the spatial uniqueness of each object and fleeing from the coldness of the ostentatious and mass-produced. It is also important to play with the light, which should be dim to give a greater sense of intimacy, and always warm, never cold, to achieve cosiness and well-being.
Wabi-Sabi style is not concerned with standards of beauty; it flees from fashions and is based on imperfection and impermanence. Every wrinkle is beautiful, as is every crack. This is why it is common to find Wabi-Sabi style houses with rusted and stripped walls and furniture, unpolished elements or full of creases and roughness. Because in Wabi-Sabi, showing the seams is a virtue and not a defect.
So let me assure you that I'm not being dismissive when I praise the new HBO Max series Sort Of for its modesty. Centering on a gender-fluid Toronto millennial of Pakistani heritage, this eight-part Canadian comedy about identity is not self-important or in your face. Created by its star, Bilal Baig, and director Fab Filippo, this under-the-radar show flies by in 20 minute installments that are funny, tender and humane.
Sabi, the talented Cockapoo model and actor, exhibits a remarkable ability to respond to voice commands, although he occasionally responds to hand actions as well. Trained exclusively by his owner, Sabi shows a strong connection and responsiveness to their tone of voice. This communication style has proven to be most effective in their training sessions.
Looking at your SEO. you're not targeting a huge variety of search terms - you might get more traffic and conversions from doing so. boho, global nomad, ethnic style, rustic, wabi sabi - these are all relevant terms you could be using. Some people don't know they're looking for a cushion cover until they find you browsing their favourite decor style. If you can get into some niche searches, especially being in a smaller domestic market, it might help with more visiblity.
Of course some of that is going to rely on Canadians wanting your product and what prices/shipping is like from the US and other countries by comparison. Just keep going; keep adding product, and put an About page in to show people you make the cushions yourself and give a lil story on how you came into doing this. Also I couldn't help noticing the bigger sellers were 'chopping' their pillows, maybe that helps! You never know...
When you say you only sell to the US... I looked at your listings and you state your items ship from Canada and offer delivery to Canada and the US. It is going to be harder to be found in search in a US market; buyers in Canada will see you easier because the search has a filter to automatically show local sellers, but the US doesn't do that. So it'll take work and a bit of time to out-rank everyone else selling mud cloth pillows. It'd be worthwhile to find the trends/styles Canadians are buying that your products can fit into, I know being in Australia I've had an easier time selling to Australian tastes, even if I don't share them!

When it comes to furnishing, this means getting rid of all the clutter and limiting yourself to pieces of furniture that fulfil a function, and that are imperfectly perfect. In our Western concept, design is all about flawlessness and symmetry. But Wabi-Sabi shows that it is the asymmetry and naturalness that make your house a home. It is organic forms and the seemingly value-free, modest things that ensure harmony and a sense of well-being.

If you've been on MFA for a few years, then you probably remember the hey-day of Americana in Internet Fashion. Every other post seemed to be either a jean fade check or a boot conditioning album, and the massive increase in midtier Internet brands promising to deliver affordable selvedge jeans or boots meant a lot of newcomers asking a lot of questions (and answering a lot of them as well, with varying accuracy.) And while there's something a little funny about a predominantly American community nodding to each other about wabi-sabi and the aesthetics of imperfection and wear-and-tear, it's also something that seems to contrast with the tendencies of Internet Fashion. You can't "break-in" your clothing if you're constantly purchasing new clothes, after all.
A quick search in MFA shows that the majority of threads on wabi-sabi were three or four years ago. Those threads tended to focus on jeans and boots, but other materials like cotton and linen can break in in interesting ways as well. In theory, this break-in is a way to turn a piece of clothing into something more specifically yours, with individual fades and creases and repairs. In practice, people often took the practice to ludicrous extremes, trying to create the most drastic fades with their jeans by refusing to wash until a year in or refusing to wash .at all and instead relying on the freezer to eliminate odors. Brands also found ways to commodify this aesthetic of buying worn-in clothing. APC would buy old worn-in jeans from customers and resell them to new customers who maybe didn't have the patience to actually wear their clothes every day. There are ways to purchase the aesthetic of wear, without the actual process.
Is there anything still to the concept of wabi-sabi? How have your clothes changed and broken in as you've worn them over the years? Do you have any thoughts on that brief period in Internet fashion when everyone was sharing raw denim albums and boot break-in checks? Do you still participate in them? ( r/goodyearwelt and r/rawdenim still are around, if anyone wants to get back into the niche.) Why do you think the concept faded away? Do you have any albums to share?
I believe the first way to think about incorporating wabi sabi into your home is to take stock of what you have and determine what you may no longer need. Your home may very well simply have too much stuff in it to really feel calm, peaceful, and life-giving.
Wabi-sabi is a way of life rooted in the Japanese philosophy of impermanence and imperfection. The principles of the organic concept come from appreciating transience in nature. As a result, the aesthetic shows serenity in simplicity and incomplete and imperfect form. Expect to see plenty of natural and authentic materials showing the passage of time.
