In Order to use it on an Andriod phone you will need a Female USB to Male Micro USB adapter like this one HERE. And a cellphone/tablet that has OTG support. Sadly the $49 Kindle Fire does not have OTG support dispite being build on the Andriod 6.0 platform. I am getting to the point where I use so many apps while working that I am looking for a Android based tablet that I can dedicate to my sound kit. Most Samsung and LG phones now offer OTG support.

We currently run 3 Square registers and 2 ipads for our retail store. I love the Square smartphone app. However, as far as I can tell, it's missing a feature that it really needs. I would like to be able to scan barcodes with an android smartphone CAMERA (like you can with the ipad app). Am I missing something or is this feature not available? I do understand I can connect a bluetooth barcode scanner but that's not what I want to do. Thank you!

Today my phone started acting up, after hours of troubleshooting the problem I found an old Samsung thread discussing the same problem I have, where of I locked my phone it would shut itself off completely within 30 seconds. They said to turn off fingerprint scanner and lo and behold that fixed my problem. This thread is dated 2019, has this always been a problem or has this recently returned. Thread im talking about: -Note-Phones/Note-9-Shuts-Off-After-Seconds/td-p/446256

Something I have been think about is that it would be really handy to be able to access the mobile phones camera and take a snap shot of a bar code or QR code and that information be sent directly to the database for inventory logging. We currently use mobile tablets on the floor so our production manager carries his tablet and scanner gun as he is inventorying product. It would be nice to be able to just carry the tablet it would also be more piratical on the back-end because right now the scanner information goes to the ControlLogix and I pull from there to the database, I believe it would be better and more efficient to bypass the ControlLogix and go directly to the database.

During our testing, we found Genius Scan Ultra to be the fastest scanner app, and also the best at performing text recognition on documents. While saving scanned items, we liked the app's ability to accurately suggest tags based on location, calendar events and document contents.

Just wanted to share my project using an HTC Android phone as a barcode scanner.
The barcode info is then transfered to my Arduino unit using either Bluetooth or USB-OTG connection.
App supports most barcode types: QR, Data Matrix, Code39 etc.
If the application answers to the call, the message will be printed in the message box.
And if you dont want to use the scanner, the application supports manually entered strings aswell.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing the info. Though I can't get to the vedio you uploaded here, I went to check in Google shop. It looks pretty good. I think I'm gonna give it a try because the qr code reader on my phone is not able to read any other barcodes like Data Matrix, PDF-417.

Hi @kvlschaefer CC @EDise
I currently face the same issue, did you manage to sort it out?
For contacts that are already in Hubspot, when I want to scan their business card to upload/update info, the phone number is spotted by the scanner but doesn't flow into Hubspot at the end.
I can share with you an example if you need.

Currently, the business card scanner can scan phone numbers to the Mobile Phone Field in HubSpot.

Can you please confirm if you are trying to sync a phone number to the Mobile Phone Field please? If yes, could you please send me a private message with a screenshot from your phone when it shows this phone number is collected and saving this, but then the contact does not end up with these details?

I wanted to share this knowledge base article regarding which contact fields are imported when using the Business Card Scanner.

Thank you!

For the majority of your paper-based and handwritten Gradescope assignments, you need to scan hard copies of your pages and save them as a PDF before submitting. No scanner? No problem. Keep reading to learn how to scan from your phone and then how to submit your scans in Gradescope from your computer, phone, or tablet.

This is really interesting, does that mean the RAW data that transfers with the project after processing, when transferring from phone to computer, is different to the RAW data if transferred from the phone to computer before processing ?

The project structure changes after processing on the phone , not to mention the fused point cloud and mesh are very much simplified.
The RAW data is not altered , but processing files on the phone is just a waste of time .
Before we had no choice , now we can just scan and go .

If you are here, then you found the solution! I have been searching the web for what scanner to use on Stocky and if there was a way to use my iPhone. I stumbled across this app, test it and it works like a charm! Download this app and your problems will be solved. You just have to make sure your phone and computer are connected to the same WiFi

Once you download the app, just follow the instructions. You'll have download an emulator on your PC or Mac to make this work per instructions ( and make sure your phone and computer are connected to the same WiFi. I am on a MACBook and it works perfectly! After you've got this setup and connected, open Stocky and create a stocktake, then scan your first product barcode and BOOM! I generated a barcode on my screen to scan it for testing and the product I scanned showed right up on my stocktake on Stocky!

Love looking at your old films, but tired of messy wires and bulky scanning equipment? Skip the expensive fees and keep things simple with the KODAK Mobile Film Scanner. On the surface, it looks like a cute little box. But put it together, place your smartphone on top, and old photographs become digitized in seconds.

You may already have experience creating digital copies with a desktop scanner, which is similar to a photocopier. However, many smartphones and tablets can actually capture high-quality scans of paper documents with their built-in cameras, which makes the process faster and more convenient than a traditional scanner. In this lesson, we'll talk about some apps you can use for iOS and Android mobile devices.

Another way to scan a document with your smartphone is by downloading a separate mobile app to your device. These apps can convert text documents into PDF files. There are many applications to choose from, but they all work in the same basic way. Some of the most popular scanner apps include Tiny Scanner (Android and iOS) and Scanner Pro (iOS), but you can also search your device's app store to find even more options.

Scanning documents on a mobile device is quick and easy, but the results aren't always as consistent as you might get with a desktop scanner. Here are a couple of tips to improve the overall quality of your mobile scans:

There are many makes and models of barcode scanners on the market. Each type of barcode scanner has limits to what kinds of barcodes it can scan While the low price point of laser scanners may be attractive, do not buy a laser scanner if you need to scan a barcode off of a mobile phone screen. Laser scanners cannot scan the screen of a mobile device, smart watch, or flat screen TV. In addition, laser scanners cannot scan 2D barcodes or QR codes at all. For these reasons, we recommend using 2D imaging barcode scanners.

Laser scanners emit light when they scan because the laser light must be reflected back in order to read the barcode. 1D barcodes are composed of black and white bars where the space between the black and white bars define the value. Laser scanners cannot scan barcodes displayed on phone screens because light is not reflected back. Mobile phones have anti-reflection technology to prevent glare and they are constantly emitting their own light from their LCD screens.

2D imaging scanners can read both 1D and 2D barcodes. Most importantly for use with the ID123 app, these scanners can read barcodes displayed on phone screens. 2D imaging scanners come in a lot of varieties. There are types that look and function like the more traditional point and shoot laser scanners, with a laser still used for aiming. Some 2D imagers are hands-free and installed in locations or scan kiosks.

Rugged scanners are for use cases that require field work or scanning in rough locations. They are priced higher because of this, but an expensive rugged scanner is not necessary for most use cases. Cheaper handheld 2D imager scanners and scanning accessories that plug into PCs may be sufficient for most use cases.

The mobile app called codeREADr offers this service. The CodeREADr app is a mobile application that turns phone or tablet into powerful 2D imaging scanner. The application allows enterprises to create custom scanning workflows on their cloud-based platform. Read more about CodeREADR here.

As a teacher, I am always scanning documents (answer keys, student work, etc.) and saving the scans as PDF's. For many years, I have user the scanner function on the office photocopier. Now, with the use of a scanning app on my phone, and this stand, I can scan the documents myself. Then after scanning, I can email the scans, upload them to Google Drive or to Dropbox.
