Looking from the outside in the Education in Malaysia:
Objectively, Revisit the pasteducation system, The past students fair better. There must be some right in the past.
(1) The Ministry hears alot of grouses wanting more Chinese, Tamil, KAFA schools built / more teachers for these medium and facilities.
SCENARIO: Malaysia is getting more disintegrated and NGOs is not helping. An ethnic group goes to a particular ethnic speaking school, learns the subjects in that particular ethnic language, learn and mixed with a particular ethnic society, comes home and converse and watch a particular ethnic language tv stations and exposed to the norm the ethnic. Onwards enter an ethnic majority University mixed the same ethnic group and work at an ethnic entity work place. What does that individual becomes: a particular ethnic person but a full pledge Malaysian??? Yes/ No
SOLUTION: Reintroduce English Medium School ( remove class for changing of school)
English, as the common language has its strength as referral, internationally spoken globally. The issue now is we are confuse about strength of spoken English and medium of teaching. Why promote English speaking but Ministry should focus is the medium is English to acquire the knowledge and the ease of teaching especially technical nomenclature. If we were to observe, now in a sentence, 3/4 the words used is just the Melayukan the English word. And most of the time translated literally thus meaning lack depth and misleading.
Why the Maths and Sc was in English acquirement failed. Reason: Most of the teachers who taught this subject were educated in the Malay medium. Understandingly, these would-be teachers shall be educated in English. Once English is reinstate give it 5 years, there shall be an improvement in the teaching of subjects in English.
Looking to the past, there was a surge of parents sending their children across the causeway, when we introduce the Malays medium to all schools. It is disheartening, to see the mushrooming of private schools. Why? Because parents wants their children educated in English medium. I am afraid in future we are cultivating the haves and have-not of the Malaysian Society. Malaysia lost revenues in-terms of monetary and human resources.
But the Bahasa Malaysia (National Language) must be uphold and taught as a subject a MUST. BM Literature shall be taught and students appreciate than BM and uphold grammar and its nomenclature in its true sense. By having BM as a common medium of language, you confuse the classical with colloquial jargon (spoken Bahasa Melayu). Sad to see children nowadays not appreciating the beauty of BM novel thats gives dept to Bahasa Malaysia. Added on many cannot appreciate Bahasa as its true beauty.
If other says we are unpatriotic, most of thoes educated in the english medium are MORE patriotic and speak better Bahasa and English than the now students
