Dear all,

My greatest concern is our doing it right for our young generations:-

1)  So many schools - we split the races

This itself is so damaging to the society...they don't grow up together.

2)  Children are educated differently -  pre school are left to parents

So when children begin primary education ...... we have children from different levels.
Children who have started to begin lessons from age 3 would know more than those who start at age 5.
In schools, teachers find it easier to teach the kids who know more....the weaker ones are neglected and it
goes on and on till secondary....the neglected ones feel inferior.

3)  TEACHING - should be strictly for those who have the passion.

4)  MAIN TARGET -  TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ENJOY SCHOOL !!!!!

We have to tackle the main issues because at the end of the day, schools have to produce quality students who understand their goals and appreciate EDUCATION!!!

I agree with you and would like to comment on point 1.

We have always said that the Mission Schools / Sekolah Bantuan Kerajaan Mubaligh are the most 1Malaysia, the most multi-racial of all the schools.  Education is for all, regardless of race or creed.
But now, even the mission schools are losing this multi-racial element as parents are losing confidence in the Sekolah Kebangsaan, of which the mission schools are a part.
Quoting from the Ministry of Education:   “Masyarakat bukan Bumiputera mempunyai tanggapan bahawa SK juga terlalu bercirikan Islam manakala masyarakat Islam pula menyatakan sebaliknya.” (Pelan Induk Pembangunan Pendidikan 2006-2010, Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia, bahagian 6.02 ms 77)

I say: Let our schools be multi-racial and let there be a good mix of students and the teachers.

Dear All Concerned,

A national integrated school system may be the solution to prevent splitting children of different races in schools and to promote solidarity. My proposal on national integrated school system does not take away anything that are now offered and there's no need to amend the constitution to introduce this system. Please see attached.

Regards.
Hussaini

Bertuah sungguh saya masuk universiti kemudian.

Maksud saya: It's meaningless if we have Mission School for primary alone. The current system of SMK is already enough to get to that level of Mission School but if the current implementation is doing the segregation, then there is no point for us to keep on 'creating' new things.

Dear All

Today's issue about truancy.

Seriously, the high number of truancy alone can tell you that something must be very wrong.

The changes that we are going to make must be firstly something major to make students and teachers interact well.

When teachers are pressured, then students will never get the best of their teacher and overall the hours both spend in school.

The learning environment has to be friendly, enjoyable, fun and professional and thus, whatever is taught and discussed will reap positive results in students.

FIRSTLY, CHILDREN MUST ENJOY BEING IN SCHOOL.

WHEN WE HAVE HAPPY CHILDREN AND TEACHERS.......CHILDREN WILL OPEN THEIR HEARTS TO EVERYTHING!!!!

Dear all,

Just to add to Irene's feedback on making the school fun and enjoyable learning place. I saw a school banner stating the school's Goal in making learning fun and enjoyable where at the same time, there are gate keepers taking names for those who came even just 1 minute late to school or punished just because the kids wore a a co-curriculum t-shirt instead if their sports house t-shirt.

Could the school first "seek to understand"? A lot of demographic or social data goes unnoticed or not reflected upon.

Just to share how social data can help a long way. A teacher in Wakaf Bharu, Kelantan noticed one student who has been constantly missing from school. She also found that the boy has an elder brother, who is also been missing from school frequently. Usually, this warrants for an outright warning or penalty. She reflected upon both of them, and sought more information. She found a trend! On the days the younger brother goes to school, the elder brother is absent, and when the elder brother goes to school, the younger brother is absent! Seems like collusion but she wanted to know why.

So, the concerned teacher took her initiative to visit the family of the two students and she discovered the truth. The boys had only 1 set of uniform and shoes. So they rotated their days to school just because of not having school uniform to wear.

A simple issue of not having a uniform can create a counterproductive environment for the schoolchildren. What more other issues like arriving late to school and other issues. I remember what my son's teacher in a government primary school in Melbourne said, "I'd rather have them late, then they missing the lessons. If we see a pattern [for tardiness], I'll talk to the parents to understand what you are going through".

Kind regards.

Arief

Thank Arief,

I really like your opinion and it is exactly what all adults in children's life should do.  Seek to know the truth, understand the situation and make corrections along the way.

Like i have always mentioned....parents, teachers, headmistress etc etc, we are all ADULTS.

It is only our responsibility to guide these children who shall someday have to face the real world.

In the midst of loving them, we guide them, we discipline them and we educate them. Let us be there for them.....the only way to make things happen in whatever situation, it is only via motivation that people will respond to very well and will open their hearts and mind to do whatever they are required to do.

Dear Miss Irene,

I totally agree,

As adults it might occur to us that we are acting to the best interest of the children, appropriately justified in accordance to the rules set by of course adults, yet what could be missing, so humanly logical, so effective, so ever green, is still the sense of BEING HUMAN! The most important trait of being human that we are wired with is the freedom to choose LOVE  as our way of being. Imagine a school so harmoniously run, love in the air, love as predominant fuel that drives the engines of the teachers, administrators and parents the same. At the end of the day, in our old age, looking back, it would be already too late to recreate a society that could be operating from fear and limiting beliefs, to which we have been contributing a part; fixing the issues rather than offering a new possibility! ~ To those who understand this language it is the way we use conversation to shift reality, it is offered by thelandmarkeducation (google it pls), if we feel responsibility is within our hands and are willing to make a difference, go educate or uneducate ourselves to justify our appropriateness to raise our precious children.

You might be in for a surprise!

Nurul
ps: my acknowledgement to Cikgu Nurul Huda guru penyayang SK Jalan Kuantan 1 Titiwangsa KL for putting an effort to inspire a student to get back to school after ponteng for a week. A simple touch of LOVE that created a BIG difference. She deserves a hug, a BIG one! Terima Kasih Cikgu!

Thank Ms Nurul

I actually sympathize with many many children.

On first day in school enrolling for STANDARD ONE......we have the 'SMART' who have been to Kumon, SmartReader, Early Childhood school and so on.   Then we have the 'NO SO SMART' who have had a great childhood but not equipped with early childhood programmes.

Trouble begins.....in school!!!!   They are placed in classes after some evaluation. So we have SMART and NOT SO SMART.

SO IT GOES ON AND ON.   The 'smart' children will continue life with endless tuition and the 'not so smart' will carry on being in the lower classes and as schools are so engrossed in keeping up with KPI, the good teachers are assigned to the few top classes.

Are we doing it right!!!!  I think early education should merely be based on character building, discipline, sports, etc in the midst of education.

Sports is vital in every child because through sports they learn how to play as a team, except failure, plan strategies, loyalty and so on.

Why are we so much into As right from early childhood.  Why are we giving them different platforms from day one. ITS TOTALLY WRONG.

ARE WE ADULTS RESPONSIBLE FOR HAVING SO MANY TRUANCY, MAT REMPITS, SUICIDE CASES, RACIAL DISCRIMINATION,  ETC

SCHOOL LIFE HAS TO BE A MIXTURE OF FUN, DISCIPLINE, SPORTS, NATION BUILDING, EDUCATION, CULTURE, TRADITION.....SO ON.

Children must be taught to be hungry for knowledge!!!!!!!  We have to teach them the skills and not give them the copy paste skill.

So I truly hope that the changes in the EDUCATION SYSTEM will bring about methods to create a happy, united, street smart, patriotic, discipline, etc and EDUCATED group of YOUNG MALAYSIAN CITIZENS who shall be FUTURE LEADERS.

I always have my hearts out for the 'NOT SO SMART' children because when you truly know them.....they are smart but not actually GUIDED CORRECTLY!!!!

I really hope to see us adults bring about RIGHT CHANGES FOR OUR YOUND MINDS!!!

For the love of children.
