Hello everyone,

I think I we should redouble our efforts to try to get a big attendance for Thursday night.

I hear there is Didan for 4 families I. Shaare Shalom that same evening.

Maybe we should advertise the Yom Hashoa also in other Jewish communities if Great Neck?

Mehran Bassali

Hello Mr Mehran Bassali
I remember a few years ago I was involved in organizing a Yom Hashoah program and there was a similar situation and certain families made their Didan exactly on the night of Yom Hashoah .
I remember on that year I used the situation for the benefit of organizing a bigger Yom Hashoah program and I spoke to Mr Nassim Bassalian and requested from Mr Nassim Bassalian that we do a program for Yom Hashoah on the same night of Didans and Mr Bassalian liked the idea and accepted my request !
I remember that with the help of Mrs Behnaz Dilmanian we prepared a copy of an special prayer for Yom Hashoah and gave it to Mr Nassim Bassalian and then during the Didan Mr Nassim Bassalian read the special prayer and spoke about Holocaust and then six individual from our community came to podium of main synagogue at Shaare Shalom and each person light one candle.
I think the fact that there are three Didan on that night can be beneficial for our goal but you only have to change the location from Ohr Ester to Shaare Shalom or we can have two program one at Shaare Shalom and one at Ohr Ester .

Regards
Albert Bassal

We should keep the venue at 130.
Our audience is the younger crowd.
The deedan are mostly from smaller families that don't have a big presence in Great Neck.
We can think about a larger audience.
I have requested Cody Hakimian to pu this on various chat groups.

I don't think it's a good idea to mix a deedan for four families and the holocaust together. They are different subjects. To mix them would possibly upset both audiences. Our speaker did not sign up for a Farsi/American deedan. We guaranteed him a particular audience.

We can possibly think about inviting other audiences. Tony Aziz and I have to go over this.

Thank you

We should not mix didan with yom hashoa. It is a separate event and mostly caters to younger members of our community who do not go to didans.

Thank you david. Keep up the good work.

Hello Mr Mehran Bassali
I am really happy that You liked the idea of doing an special prayer and a short program for Yom Hashoah during Didans !
Many times normal people like me have different and positive ideas that can be good and beneficial but unfortunately few individuals in our community like Mr Karimzadeh ( who believe on themselves and think they are the leader of our community and know everything better than everybody ales ) always try to oppose any new idea or suggestions that comes from normal individual like me !?
I also would like to inform everybody that because of the sincere support of members of Mashadi community from Israel bonds organization about three months ago I received an invitation for a very special program that will be held at Yad Vashem museum in Jerusalem for Yom Hashoah . In that invitation that I received they also explained to me that Prime minister of Israel and most Knesset members will also be there !
Immediately after I received that invitation I told to my wife and my children that I will buy my airline ticket and will attend the program!
I am in Israel now and plan to attend the Yom Hashoah program that will be held in Yad Vashem museum on Wednesday night in behalf of everybody in our community !
Also please speak to Mrs Behnaz Dilmanian because she has the copy of a very meaningful prayer that can be read for Yom Hashoah .

As long as I remember, our community leaders and rabbis have never been lacking in making a special prayer for the victims of the holocaust. Our leaders are the first to make prayers on such special occasions. And Mr. Bassalian is the first to speak about it during one of his speeches.

Hello Mr Karimzadeh
I will appreciate if you speak with our board members and our Rabbis and encourage them in addition to reading an special prayer for Yom Hashoah also to install a permanent plaque for remembrance of tragedy of Holocaust in all our Synagogues !
I am working in this idea and this goal for more than 20 years and even when you were one of our board members but unfortunately I never succeeded in this goal !?
hopefully with your help and support very soon we achieve in this goal ! Amen

Dear Albert - thank you for your note.  I for one am fully supportive of this and think it’s long overdue.

Sorry in advance to all for the long note as I feel very strongly about this.

First, I commend the Heritage Committee for the recent beautiful Alla Dadi event and the informative exhibits that were put together - truly impactful!

My key take away was that what differentiates us Mashadi Jews from others is our rich and unique history, where our great grandparents practiced our Jewish religion, wholeheartedly, in secret, under oppression, for over 100 years!  The key word here is Jewish, and as Jews, one of our core obligations is to look out for the State of Israel and all Jews across the world - whether Mashadi, Sephardi, Ashkenaz, from Ethiopia, the Far East or anywhere else across the world.  So the least we can do for the 6 million of our fellow Jews who perished in the Holocaust is have a plaque or two in their loving memory.

Separately, recent events, such as in San Diego and the Nazi propaganda-type cartoon published in the NY Times, are strong reminders that anti-Semitism is a constant threat and keeps popping it’s ugly head... even in places we feel safe. As Jews, it’s our responsibility to teach all future generations and have constant reminders of what happened to our brothers and sisters in the Holocaust, so it never ever happens again!

I really hope all fellow board and committee members, whether on the CB the SB or otherwise, are supportive and join in this effort. It’s absolutely the right thing to do!

Sincerely,
Hooman

Hello Mr Hooman Yaghoutiel
As always thank you very much for your sincere support ! 👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏
I also would like to take this opportunity and ask you where are the rest of our board members ? And why we never receive any comments or e-mail from our other board members about their opinion about this goal ?
According to many people most of our board members , Rabbis , leaders of our community members of different communities always agree and like my ideas and suggestions about different matters and program but the main reason above individual don’t say anything and don’t share their opinion is because they believe if they support me they loose their title and status !?
I think one of the main reason that we always have very difficult time to find volunteers or candidates in our community election is because of these kinds of dirty politics that many of our board members, Rabbis, community leaders use !
I am very happy to share this important fact that because of my involvement in many different programs  in a way using dirty politics doesn’t work on me and no matter what I always try to continue and work on my ideas and hopefully one day to achieve on them ! Amen

Hi Albert jaan - you have great ideas and I really don’t think anyone is against them. If I may, I’d humbly recommend a slight change in approach that may be even more effective - to pick battles on the issues that matter most and to be hard on those issues but soft on fellow community members and volunteers.

Separately, while not all board members may prefer e-mail as a forum for discussions (not everyone is as “porchooneh” as me :-), from my experience every single one is vocal and passionate in meetings to do what each thinks is truly best for the community.

I hope you don’t take what I said the wrong way as I say it from the heart and with the outmost respect. As always, thanks for all you do for our community, for Israel, and for Jews across the world.

Best,
Hooman

Hello Hooman
Thank you for explanation but I really don’t know and don’t understand why our board members think any idea or suggestion by normal people like me is a battle !?
I think our board members should encourage and support and give podium to anybody who has an idea which is not against Halakha and Judaism and that person has also some free  time and some capability to raise the funding for the cost of performing his/her idea !
Our main problem is most of our board members believe all the idea and suggestions must be initiated by them and not by normal people like “ Albert Bassal “ !

Happy Friday to all,

I just wanted to send a quick note to commend the Israel & Zionism committee, MYC, Ohr Ester and all others involved in last night’s beautiful and heart felt Yom HaShoah program!

An incredible speaker, a contest that got the youth involved, moving speeches by our rabbis, our president and others... and I believe for the first time, out of the 200-300 that attended last night, a whopping 75% were youth and young adults - truly bravo!!!

So proud to be part of this beautiful and caring community, carrying the torch of our Jewish faith and beloved Israel.

Shabbat Shalom.

Regards,
Hooman
