Attached and below you will find the minutes of each subcommittee meeting from Sunday if you have any questions, comments or suggestions you can ask the chair of each committee or myself.

SUBCOMMITTEE MEETINGS 12/16
Shabbatons/Marriage – Benjamin Hadjibay, Leon Hakimian 2:00- 3:00
Attendees: Jon LeVian, Carolina Aziz, Mr. Eddie LeVian, Benjamin Hadjibay, Carol Hadjibay, Elisheva Hakimian, Leon Hakimian, Mat Eliassi, Charlotte Shaverdi
Notes:
- Rabbi Shmuely Boteach - expertise in dating and marriage Mr. LeVian suggested a Shabbaton with him.
-Jon LeVian: we want to have a series of Shabbatons starting local and ending internationally.
- Mr. LeVian suggested an international project like Cuba and make it a trip that’s exotic, romantic, different and we can do Humanitarian trip with the Jewish Communities in Cuba- the trip was from North Shore Hebrew Academy High School so the information is from there
- January 11th Leon suggested a outside of Great Neck trip and Jon agreed because we already have a local one so we need a going away one.
- Mr. LeVian: Valentines Day weekend trip...but Valentines Day is a Thursday but Jon said people might feel pressured.
- Going Away Shabbaton
Skiing maybe Mount Snow or something closer
Benjy suggested going to Canada maybe with Italian people
Age? 25 or older
2nd or 3rd weekend of January but it is going to be tough to get rooms in a ski resort it is a hot time for them.
Depending where we are going people are going to have to take off of work so we should to Martin Luther King Weekend - we need to have two buses one on a Thursday for people who can take off work and then people who leave on Friday afternoon after work.
Mat Eliasi suggested Poconos, but Elisheva said we need to be careful because there might not be snow.
Mashadis- Ages 22 for girls and 25-36 doesn't matter if its called Shabbaton or Weekend
2 years ago they had New Jersey for New Years and that was successful

- Youtube Account – we need to make a new account – lectures
- We are PROMOTORS!!
- Shabbat Announcements (Gabbis) (Andy Levian has communications with them) – Yossi will be responsible for that
* Should be arresting, Engaging, Convincing, Well Targeted, Positioned, Strong Promise
* We need to partner with other committees so that we are inviting for everyone – joint events
- Mat will send contact information for copies and also big poster papers/easel back
- Charlotte will be intouch with Ramin Aziz for Email Blast
**For all events we wants email communications, Mashadi.org, Kanissa News, Facebook with one message reminder before the event, Instagram post, Announcement in Minyans, flyer made, join with other committees (YMJA, Central Board, Sisterhood)
Logo: need to say YOUTH – maybe underneath as a block text and it needs to be a symbol and a block text that can be removable (depending on the event)
- What message do we want to convey? Zionistic and Religious but not too aggressive

Notes:
- Hachodesh: Talks about upcoming events (Bar- Bat Mitzvas, engagements, weddings and Kanisa programs- this is a calendar
- 2 page with 4 sides each with half a page of advertisements and the Calendar is full sponsored and a new section with pictures of past events and maybe a caption
- Megilla: keep community informed about events that have happened and will happen and people could write about their opinions and their expertise and for the elders it was their main source of information. Like a magazine with opinions and articles – this goes all over the world!
- Slowly cut down the Farsi sections maybe
-Maybe we hire her part time to help us with this
- Get 100th issue out- but we need a cost
Donations: need someone to call all these families who will sponsor for the Megilla
- Budget?
- Igal offered the money he got from fundraising for this Megilla
- Getting Behnaz Chanoom part time but she needs to get donations, Persian editing, sending it to the printer, formatting and making sure it comes together.
- Going forward: maybe 70% English 30% Farsi, realistically only twice a year, Israel Zionism Committee section
- Divide it into sections: Viewpoints- very controversial section in the past
New Ideas:
Mashadi Heritage – Nabila Levian 5:00-6:00

Notes:
- Mr. Bahman brought an idea for the Calendar to take the photos from Jewish artifacts from the Mashadis and a small explanation of each (ex. Miniature teffilin, ketuva etc)
- Jon wanted a combination of artifacts and other things like a side by side ketuva or teffillin and ancestral pictures
- Maybe we have a few pictures for each month with a brief description of each picture
- Annual Calendar – Mashadi Heritage Theme- If we are doing Calendars we can have the pictures relate to the person donating the calendar.
- Social Media: with Instagram page “Throwback Thursday” and have their descendants tagged and Bahman has many pictures that can be useful and facebook of Yehudii Mashadi
- For Calendar Nabila and Lerone will pick out pictures and Jon will send it to his graphic designer
- We need to find a way to get our youth excited about our heritage, bring the information forward – series of events to bring forward the information about our past.
- Alladadi Day: March 12th Rabbi Bitton and David Kordvani they would give prizes – Jonny Hazgiya was the MC it was very effective because they hyped it up weeks in advance.
- Have a speaker in the downstairs minyan (Joseph Kamali)
- Maybe have a heritage class
- FarSee (Would be FR in Farsi Characters) – Farsi Class using same formula as IVREAD.
- Bahman promoted Its important to clarify WHY we are promoting being Mashadi and being a community. We need to make it clear to everyone the importance and the purity that we preserved through the years. And it needs to be gradual.
- Nabila suggested we target it to people who can speak Persian! Lerone said she wanted to integrate the class with people at every level and it would still work. Jon said we can get a crowd if MYC advertises it and no charge.
- What’s the incentive: a secret language?
- Lerone suggested two routes: it’s your heritage and your history or a diplomatic thing.
- Adin suggested we use the Alladadi event to create excitement
- we should make it trending and ‘popular’
- Documenting Heritage (Carolina Aziz)
- Family Tree Workshop: An event where we sit and make up our family tree: Beit Hatafusot database and Geni. Moti Kohanim
- Chronology of dates so we have a timeline of all these events. Maybe we can complete the timeline together. And we can also minimize it
- Final points
- Calendar 15 pages and Jon will have a graphic designer put it together
- Instagram: get someone to get a picture and tags of families
- FarSee program taught by Lerone create a curriculum about 4-5 letters per class

Lerone suggested we video tape the people and their recollections on the day and what happened.

Teen Forum: January 27th – we organize peers for High School Students (8th-11th) and College kids and up to be their peers. Lets shoot for January 27th we will have food sponsored for MYC
“Big and Little Night”
Collaborate with Sisterhood- Igal and Mat are going to overlook everything- we need a flyer (Yossi)
New Years Party- ?? we need to have an MYC party no matter what the show up was. Maybe get religious parents to chaperone or MYC takes shifts

- We need a flyers (and make sure theres people in each group with their name on the list)
