Hi, Yangon Heritage Trust,
It is great what YHT has been doing for the conservation of
historic heritage buildings in Yangon, which might boast the richest
of them in South East Asia.
Personally I've learnt the useful informative historical
backgrounds of a few remaining colonial buildings to a certain extent,
thanks to " 30 Heritage Buildings of Yangon " compiled by YHT, for
instance.
Just to make it clear for everyone who is interested in becoming
a part of YHT as a walking tour guide, we need to know the following
question:
Do these walking tour guides need the tour guide licence form the
Ministry of Hotels and Tourism or not?

We would first like to be sure whether they are committed to working with us for two days a week,  have a passion for the city, an interest in heritage conservation and sympathy towards the challenges of the city. We will give further assistance for training and licensing once suitable candidates have been selected.

I notice that someone from the UMTA is cc'd in your email. I would like to take this opportunity to say that YHT is grateful the UMTA for putting our announcement in their newsletter. Many people called us to inquire, but they misunderstood our intentions because of how UMTA translated our announcement. They thought that YHT was proposing training and they tried to enroll.  It would be greatly appreciated if the UMTA could pass the news onto the industry. Thank you again.
