MyJustice operation
MyJustice is a four year programme that aims to improve access to justice and legal aid for the poor and vulnerable, develop the legal capacity of justice sector professionals and strengthen selected rule of law institutions to better fulfil their mandates.
MyJustice is funded by the European Union and implemented by the British Council and has two specific objectives:
1. To improve access to both formal and informal justice systems especially for vulnerable groups in up to 6 regions/states in Myanmar;
2. To improve the functioning of institutions which support the Rule of Law in Myanmar
Working mostly at community & grassroots level, MyJustice places emphasis on a people-centred approach, which is designed to encourage learning, trust and collaboration among and between all stakeholders. We will work in close consultation with communities to promote enhanced and equitable justice provision for all groups, especially those currently most excluded.
The role
The Legal Advisor (National) will support the design and implementation of interventions of the MyJustice programme. He/She is responsible for ensuring the programme’s impact, experience and expertise takes account of Myanmar’s legal framework, practices and culture, and influences change in the justice sector (informal and formal) in Myanmar. He/She will contribute to the programme’s success by improving engagement with legal professionals and other justice service providers.
