Dear Scholarships Program Alumnus,
The Government of Japan has expressed to the Secretariat of the Japan/
World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) its desire to
increase substantially the number of scholarships awarded to citizens
of Myanmar. In order to do this we must increase the number of
qualified applicants from Myanmar.
For this reason, we are reaching out to the Myanmar alumni of the JJ/
WBGSP to help us find strong candidates for the program. We must move
quickly since the deadline for applications is March 31, 2012.
To refresh your memory, applicants must already have an unconditional
acceptance to a development-related Master's Degree program, and must
meet the following criteria:
Be born after March 31, 1972.
Have, by March 31, 2012, at least 2, preferably 4 to 5, years of
recent full time professional experience acquired after a university
degree, in the applicant’s home country or in another developing
country.
Hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
Be in good health.
Be of good character.
Not be a permanent resident or a national of any industrialized
country.
Not be residing in an industrialized country for more than one year.
Not be an Executive Director, his/her alternate, staff of the World
Bank Group (the World Bank, International Finance Corporation,
International Development Association, Multilateral Investment
Guarantee Agency, and International Center for Settlement of
Investment Disputes), consultant, or relative of the aforementioned.
Additionally, preference is given to public sector employees, women,
and people from limited economic means. Awardees commit to returning
to their countries at the end of their studies and may not work for
the World Bank Group or IMF for at least three years after completion
of their studies.
Please refer promising candidates to our website for the full
eligibility requirements and application form:
www.worldbank.org/scholarships.
Also, please feel free to share this information with your networks
and other alumni for whom we may not have email addresses.
Many thanks, and best regards,
Danielle
