Good morningThe Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department is pleased to invite you to attend a Forced Marriage Workshop in Sydney onWednesday 22 April 2015 on behalf of your organisation.This workshop is open to all community organisations and service providers in the Sydney region who may come into contact with people in, or at risk of, a forced marriage through their engagement with the community.Attendees will include frontline officers and service providers from civil society and non-government organisations, as well as Legal Aid and Community Legal Centre Practitioners, community workers, domestic violence workers, immigrant and women’s community centre workers, teachers and healthcare professionals.The workshops will include interactive presentations and panel discussion which will equip participants with best-practice information on how to effectively respond to suspected cases of forced marriage, including information on the forced marriage legislative framework, key indicators and referral pathways. Presenters and panellists will include representatives from the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department, the Australian Federal Police, and Anti-Slavery Australia.While this is a free event, registration is essential and by invite only.
